Long time reader first time poster.

I am hoping I can get some ball busting and a little incite from other locals.

Last Saturday, the mrs and I where headed out to the W&OD in Leesburg headed West on 267. I was in the second lane from the right with the cruise set at 75, there where very few cars on the road and I was the unlunky one to get picked off.

This is where I assume he was hiding.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=38.953168,-77.384101&vps=1&sll=38.953535,-77.376816&sspn=0.009194,0.01929&g=38.953168,-77.384101&ie=UTF8

I made it about a mile before I looked up in the rear view to see a crown vic closing in fast. I knew it was me instantly.

He wrote me up for 78 in a 55. Not reckless, as the conditions where perfect for a good speed, and I had full control of my equipment and surroundings. My car is completely legit and I have 3 positive driving points and this is my first moving violation in about 5 years. I was cited by a Washington Airport Authority officer, and will have a date in FFX General and since I am on the hook for court fees I might as well show up right?

Any help and or flamming from the community? Thanks all.

Maybe it was an odd Saturday or day in general, but almost nobody drives 75 MPH on 267 at any time. 65-70 tops for the vast majority of "fast" drivers. You likely weren't the unlucky (or "unlunky", as you put it) one, rather you were likely sticking out like a sore thumb.

Can't help with any advice about showing up on your court date, sorry.

P.S., it's "were", not "where"...

I can get you out of this ticket for a small price. Email me at carlo5042@yahoo.com and we can work something out. I am 11 for 13 on my tickets, I get out of all of them and I love fighting tickets in court at the wonderful Fairfax County General District Court. I can help, email me.

There is always that group of slow moving old people, unlike the Beltway they tend to stick to the right so if you where in that group I bet it looks like those punk kids are recklessly driving. There was a flow of fast moving traffic cruising at the same speed of which I was a part, not the fastest or last. I actually dipped out of the flow before they hit the Greenway as the speed began exceeding 80.

Good Lookin out on the grammar

What precisely do you want help with? I don't understand. Are you looking for some magical way to get out of the ticket somehow?

At least you're honest about the fact that you were speeding. Most of the idiots who post here try to make it the cop's fault somehow.

Just pay it and thank your lucky stars you didn't get hit with reckless.

I've noticed (when attending court or just watching the cases), that a lot of people think

"I will admit the truth to the judge, and since I am a jerk at life, I will actually be honest for once and tell the judge the truth. No one has ever done this before! The judge will see how I took responsibility for my actions by admitting I broke the law and Im sorry for that. This will have merit on it's own, and therefore, I will receive sympathy and a reduced sentence"

A lot of people gladly admit what they've done wrong when in front of the judge.
I always - ALWAYS see the judge ask the officer "Was there anything "unusual" about the stop?"
"Any other things I should be aware of, officer?"

If you let the fine ride because you cannot pay it (and thus, allowing the county to schedule court), dont bullshit the judge, cause he has 100's of other cases to tend with in the 2hrs or so while you are there. Most of the time, depending on the record of the driver and the judge's mood, you may be found guilty of "failure to pay fulltime attention"... which carries no points, 100 $ variable fine..

The only judge that I saw that loves to socialize during court proceedings is in Fairfax City, but other than that, if you dont have any-other underlying circumstances on why you broke the law, and no circumstances to beleive the officer is stretching the truth, then good luck .. lol

A toll road cop lied on me and said I was going 80 at the toll gates, he pulled behind me while I was paying with change ..

I had no evidence, since teh cop said he paced me file a mile prior to the toll booths.. Lying sacks of shit. I dislike most fairfax police.

You should go in and say your cruise was set at 75 and insist they take those 3 extra mphs off.

Not sure what taking a whole 3 mph off would do... lower the fine a few bucks?

Anyway, for this to work, he'd probably have to take the car to a mechanic and have the speedo calibrated; even then, he'd have to show that it was way off for it to make any difference.

Speeding on the toll road/access road is a guarantee fail. MWAA is in dire need of money, and that is a guaranteed revenue generator for them.

Those two units look nearly identical. Are they in fact the same internally?

I know it wouldn't make much difference. That's why I want him to do it.

I got hit with "failure to keep right" when I made a U-turn across a double yellow line.

The ticket said "Failure to stay right" and the officer explained it as above. Couldn't argue with that so just paid it and forgot it.

It is still on the record as a "reckless" more than 5 years later.

That is to say, how does one know the OP didn't get a "reckless"?

23 mph over the speed limit and you think you shouldn't be ticketed?

I am not looking to get out of this ticket. I was speeding,I deserve to pay something.
I have no experience dealing with WMAA and FFX courts. I know if anyone would have input it would the folks here.

MY GPS was registering 75. He insisted on 78. I am a senior auto tech, and have been the only person to work on this car since it was new. I will not argue defective equipment on the car my wife drives.

I have a clean record maybe they can knock it down to 70.

All I am looking for is a little leniency. I don't want to go in there and act like an asshole and attack the officer...I know he is just doing his job, I support them...I just don't want to support them too much.
