Bring DC United to Soccer-mad FFX County!

It's time. RFK is crumbling; no one in MD or DC can successfully figure out alternative sites. That leaves us - let's do this!

I went to a DC United game last year - first trip to RFK in years. The place is certifiable by the USDA as a grade "A" shithole.

Didn't Virginia propose a spot along Jeff Davis HWY south of Crystal City for the Nats at one point? I think the area was unfit for residential or most commercial construction but could be developed for a stadium. If so, the Virginia Sports Authority, or whatever it's called, should consider it.

As for RFK, the site really is in a residential neighborhood. It would probably make more sense to put mixed use in there instead of trying to build a new stadium that no one else will use.

True. I once described it as a urine soaked concrete bowl. That said, it's easier to get in and out of than Nats Park and the seats are a hell of a lot closer to the field.

The new stadium would only have to seat 25,000 or so, if that. The location in or close to where a proposed Nats stadium was located - by the Innovative Technology Center - might be a good choice. Another site could be the area bordered by Rt 28 to the west and Frying Pan Rd to the north.

DC United would sell out in the Herndon area, for sure.

I believe you're mistaken. RFK has a huge amount of sideline space (especially compared to Fed-Ex) and you can't get seats any closer to a ball field than at National Park.

The getting in and out...yeah, I'm with you on that.
