Way to go fellas... really showed those drunk drivers:

SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT RESULTS: Fairfax County police officers from around the
county conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Saturday, April 23 from 11:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Sunday. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Approximately 770 motorists passed through the checkpoint in the southbound lanes of
Richmond Highway near the intersection of Fairhaven Avenue. No arrests were made for DWI;four summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses, and two people were charged with minor criminal offenses. Ten auxiliary officers and eight
police officers participated in this operation.

Excellent - this shows that the checkpoints are working and deterring people from drinking and driving. Overall county statistics shows that Fairfax actually has very low numbers.

Proactive policing and prevention > reactive responses to DWI/DUI's causing horrible accidents and killing innocent people.

Concur. The OP's logic is like saying TSA checks at the airport are a waste of time because they haven't caught anyone with a bomb.

I'm guessing the OP isn't a rocket scientist.

+1, Technology is wonderful these days. I got a DUI checkpoint alert about five minutes after it started. Told everybody else in the bar nearby.

Sorry you'll have to find the twitter account on your own. I actually get more texts on my cell from friends than the alerts. When I get the text I just forward the text to my "fairfax county list" I had about 10 texts that night. Got my same text back about five minutes later. LOL
