Anyone else seen the guy on channel 66 infomercial for Ted Britt. Some beer gut guy calling himself the Dawg is giving away cheap t shirts with his picture on it if you come by and test drive a car and see him for financing.
They offer almost new cars for 99 bucks a month. When you and hit the stop button and read some very small print at the bottom that is for three months and the rest of the loan is something like 550 bucks a month. He also has some eye candy blonde with him who wears clothes out of the 1980s. She appears to have a room temp IQ.
I don't know why but I have to watch the whole half hour, it is just so cheaply done and everything is ad lib. They appeal to the lowest common denominator. Cheap intro rates, flashy blonde woman and cars that must have belonged to a manassas redneck or inner city pimp. They have repo written all over them.
Response:
Yup, I've seen the ad also. I think they are using some type of hypnosis or subliminal advertising because I too was suckered into watching the info commercial for about 10 minutes.
The Dawg character is pretty crazy looking. I wonder if he really works there or if that is some TV character they swiped and use as bait to get you into the place.
The show reminds of "King of Cars" and Chopper.
This deserves its own thread.

I have a friend who works at Ted Britt and when I mentioned the hilarious Dawg guy, he said that he was the only manager in the company who actually cared about his employees and the rest were a bunch of idiots! Finding out that the Dawg Pound guy is the least idiotic manager at Ted Britt was hilarious. I think the best part is at the end of the infomercial when they are all standing outside the storefront and Dawg keeps doing something ridiculous for the camera every 30 seconds. He's like those kids who make funny faces behind the news anchor reporting live on the street, except it's his 'show' anyways!
I'm telling ya, that Dawg guy has some type of hypno power going on. LOL
I think the show is on Comcast 66 for about 30 minutes midday Sunday or Saturday. Not sure of the time. It's a sales guy standing in the Ted Britt Chantilly car lot and the sales people are driving up cars saying stuff like drive it away for $98 dollars, nothing down.
Then this guy, "Dawg," best described as an old beer gut WWF wrestler looking guy, interrupts every couple of minutes with some crazy face or move, saying how he put somebody in a car for next to nothing, then "put... you... in... a... car... today!!!"

You have to actually see it to get the full effect. The Dawg guy keeps mugging it up behind the hosts and sticking out his tongue. The cars are a mix of all types. From Jaguar to Escorts. They have huge pickups with million dollar wheels you just know some bank repopped from a redneck and sold it to Ted Britt.
One of the girls they show was supposed to be a former Miss Hawaii but you don't get a real clear shot of her but she does look hot.
I can just picture the Dawg guy following her around all day at work sticking his tongue out at her.
Off topic...but I remember in the late 50's or early 60's, Texas Ted Britt, founder of Ted Britt Ford...and the current Ted Britt's father used to take livestock in trade. He had a pen out in front of the dealership to hold the horses and cows.
My dad bought Fords from Texas Ted and us kids always liked going up there to see the animals.
When I want to purchase a quality vehicle, I make sure to either buy from people named "Dawg" or from Mexicans selling old pick-up trucks on the side of the road.
The Dawg is Cool. I love that comercial I see is everyday since i work in TV. Come on when he sticks his toung out and dancing it is too much. he is dawg pound 4 life. 99 a month 0 down.
I caought that "commercial" a couple weeks ago. It was like a train wreck, hard to look away!
Anyways, its target audience is the high (credit) risk folks who otherwise could not get a decent car. Low (advertised) prices and interest rates that will surely be higher once you get in there, they are going for the easiest targets, the PAYMENT BUYERS.
Want to pay a LOT more for a car, go in and buy a payment vs. buying a car. What I mean is, negotiate the price for the car and if you need a loan, negotiate the rate, according to your credit. If you simply tell them yo can afford a car at say, 300-325 bucks, they will tell you they can get you the car at 360 bucks. That is 60 bucks OVER your base figure you threw out, and 35 bucks over the max you said you would pay...
It is all INTEREST MONEY, trust me!!!!! There is a reason that salesmen, frequently make MORE from the F&I comission checks then then do from the sale.
The Dawg is back! I just saw him on wdca from 8-830 am. The guy is all over the place. He had Ric Flair the wrestler with him this time.
During the show they took breaks to try to find some animal shelter beagles a home. They were in a wire pen on the showroom floor and had a guy talking but either the mic was bad or turned off you couldnt hear what he was saying just the dogs barking.
Then they had a ZZTop like band playing for a few minutes. From the way it was put on there was no planning just jumping back and forth.
I think they are trying to appeal to an audience that cannot afford regular financing, needs an extra dog around the house, loves pro wrestling and throw in some nice southern rock.
Hot tubs and cocaine do not go well together. Not saying she was on coke but if a person was then the heart races combined with heated water it is a recipe for heart failure.
I think this Dawg guy is entertaining (yes, I watch it too) - and certainly he cannot be said to take himself too seriously.
The problem with the advertising is that the payment terms they quote are such awful deals for the consumer and bear no reality to a reasonable auto purchase. I know, I know, this is a paternalistic view of the world - because after all, people do knowingly pay 99 bucks a month for a period of time in exchange for that interest laden balloon payment that makes the aggregate payments 30% over what they should be. And I know that folks have all different circumstances and cannot always afford a decent car. But these sketchy payment deals are the first road to financial ruin, and are not easy for many to recover from.
I guess the bright side is that the collapse in the subprime mortgage market simply has to be impacting the subprime auto market - the auto market packages its loans and securitizes them, too, albeit in few flavors and with less sophistication than the variety of collateralized debt obligations in the housing market - and the market will for a while keep some from entering into lousy deals at their own peril.
I also might add that Ford dealers have to be suffering - and that the used car shtick is one good source of earnings. Dawg may be the best profit center they have.
You owe it to yourself to watch one of his commercials. You are glued to the tv because you have no idea what is going to happen next. At one point he is showing a pimped up truck, the next Ric Flair is wrestling members of the Chantilly High School wrestling team. Then you have a segment that he is looking for homes for orphaned beagles.
working from home today and caught another episode of the Dawg. He had a Fairfax Cop on there giving safety tips. He had two hot blondes that said they came up from North Carolina just to see the Dawg. He had a rather large guy dressed up in a bright purple suit who said he was the Credit Pimp.
He ended it again with wrestler Ric Flair woooooing about what great deals they have. I know I am pathetic but this guy is great. You never know what to expect.
They guy was dressed in a bright purple outfit with a leopard design hat and scarf. The Dawg was sitting at a desk with two chairs to his right. Kind of a like a cheap version of the tonight show. I cannot tell you when it is on it just seems to show up at odd hours.
You have to read the small writing when they say 99 a month. Usually it is zero down, 99 a month for three months, then something like 500 a month for 60 months.
I love the hoopde rides they bring out. Escalades with spinning rims and pickups so big they make Hummers look like Matchbox toys. On an old show he rolled out what would be described as a teaser to get people to come by. It was some ragged out Geo or something like that for around 2,000.. I am sure it had over a 100,000 miles on it and the inside smelled like beer and vomit.
I think I saw a "My child is an honor roll student at South Lakes" on the bumper as it rolled past.
Apparently you guys just don't realize the purpose of what we are doing here. The Idea is, yes to help people with lesser than good credit get approved when noone else would help them. Bill Redford (The Dawg) is truly an amazing manager and believe it or not we have helped a lot of people. The day that we had Ric Flair here was the best day I have ever had at this dealership and everyone that came to see us filming had a blast. Don't judge what we are doing here because you obviously don't get it. If you are questioning the validity of the Infomercial then it is not directed to you as our audience. Thanks for reading, and if you need a car, you know where to find us.

To Ted Britt Employee,
Don't mistake my post for complaining, I love the commercials. Tell the Dawg I said hello. His commericials are edgy and appear to just happen with no planning. A nice break from the BS commercials that fill the airwaves.
Also the babe in the financining department is hot.

Lurker,
We don't even know when the Commercial Airs. Bill has the schedule set up and I can tell you it is on the Ion channel the most but it is running on all the local networks. However I have bad news for all of you. We were told that we will not be running the commercial after the first of the year, and apparently it will be limited airtimes until then. I'm sure the Dawg will come up with something new and exciting for all of you in the springtime though.
Those commercials are just like the ones for Farrish Suzuki (Manassas).....only better....because of the DAWG!
Still, I have to wonder if Suzuki is paying for these as both have a similar format.....dumb, attractive blonde, and employees driving the cars out while giving you a super low teaser payment with ridiculous terms in the small print!
I too was busted watching this infomercial, It's like a really bad reality show that you can't stop watching even though you should. I personally think they should put it on PRIMETIME, it's that halarious!!!!
Puttttttttttttt..... You................. In............ A......... Carrrrrrrrrrrr! Today!!!! (*does crazy head shake with goofy look and hang ten hands*)
Lurker LMMFAO!!! Does it still run? I haven't seen it for a while, please advise. Oh, and FFXN8TV, as a car salesman, no, you don't get less $ from the sale of the car than you do in the back "finance end", typically it's about five percent. Do the math, finance options and products don't motiv8 (like that?) salesmen, they have to feed their kids and pay their bills like everyone else.
I just saw this commercial too! The very first thing i thought was 'can i find this on youtube?'. this is a great "suck you in" commercial!! I caught myself watching for atleast 20 min. They have Hooters girls just standing around, a few raging coke heads screaming and sweating to death and much much more to laugh at. If you ever get the pleasure of viewing this, please do!
Does anyone have a link to a vid of these commercials? I used to work with this guy about 10-12 yrs ago and he's an absolute lunatic. Man I miss those days. lmao!
I just saw a commercial with "the Dawg" in it that someone had on their computer. He is down south doing the same commercials for Suzuki Dealerships, but I can't find a link anywhere.
I will keep looking and let everyone know if I find it.
In answer to someone above, actually the hot finance chick (sic) was supposedly banging the Dawg for a promotion and she aint that hot close up either. The entire dealership calls her "But her face"
The Dawg blew the ad budget by way over 2 mill on these things to no real effect, Hence his departure to Southern pastures to be on TV there.
Britt lost 60 years of local and State level dealership cred with this stuff. In a stunning mis marketing campaign they ruined their "above average customer service and quality dealer" image in about 6 months. If you drive past the place now, its so run down a delapidated, it looks like a half abondoned factory.
HEY! THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT FOR THE ONES THAT ENJOY THE SHOW. NOW, A LIL TRUTH SYRUM FOR THE SO CALLED TRUTH MEISTER. THE FINANCE LADIES OF TED BRITT MADE THE MEN OF TED BRITT LOOK LIKE PANTIE WAISTS!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GIRLS!!! OBVIOUSLY TRUTH MEISTER DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT THE INNER WORKINGS OR EARNINGS OF THE TED BRITT ORGANIZATION. BEFORE THE DAWG CAME TO FAIRFAX, TED BRITT WAS LOOSING MILLIONS, INCREDIBLY WE DOUBLED THE VOLUME AND TURNED A PROFIT AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SET ALL TIME RECORD. IN REFERECE TO ANY LOSS, IT WOULD BE MY SUSPICION THAT HIS CHILDREN ARE BLEEDING HIM DRY, ALSO SPENDING MILLIONS ON BOATS AND HOMES IN A TOUGH ECONOMIC MARKET ARE LESS THAN WISE DECISIONS.AS FOR ME I AM LOVIN LIFE AS ALWAYS, AND RUNNIN IT NATION WIDE, DON'T THINK THAT WOULD KEEP GOING IF DEALERS DIDN'T TURN A PROFIT. AMAZINGLY I HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE DC MARKET FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW, YET THIS BLOG IS STILL GOIN, NOW HOW IS THAT A NON EFFECTIVE MARKETING CAMPAIGN??
YO MARK GROVES,, WHATS GOIN ON?? IM BACK IN HOTLANTA,, LOOK ME UP BEST WISHES TO ALL AND YOU'LL SEE ME SOON!!!!!!!!!!!! DAWG
