A couple years ago at least, south on Rt 1, down below Ft Belvoir was one. It was of decent size, and also took in scrap metal.

Land is too expensive around here for a junkyard - unless you are on the county fringes (e.g., by Dulles or down near Newington).

It must be harder than the Good Ol' Days to have a junkyard like this - have to somehow keep runoff from happening, etc etc etc.

Wasn't there a junk yard north of 66 just east of the 50 intersection? I think the map below is it, but it's sure empty of cars now!

Hey! How come the county landfill at 7100 doesn't look like a landfill anymore? Is it FULL!?

Because, with the exception of recycled material, garbage in FFX is burned in a trash to energy facility. There is one in Alexandria and one in Lorton (the Alexandria one may serve the City of Alexandria only). No burial is done.

That particular piece of property belonged to Craig Movers.

Which sometimes looked like a junk yard but really wasn't.

Leesburg, just use Rte. 7. We've gotten some car parts from there before, and the folks working there seem to be on top of their inventory.

Banks Auto, south of Massaponax, started on Backlick Road opposite the tank farm. Then the family moved to near what is now Potomac Mills. The business moved to Massaponax about 15 years ago.

Other posters have written about it.
