There's been a VERY heavy presence of MWAA and state police on the Toll Road and 28 during the past week. For the first time ever, I saw MWAA cops pulling people over on the Toll Road itself (They used to only work the Airport Access Road). Fucking MWAA cops now have increased jurisdiction due to the MWAA takeover of the Toll Road from VDOT. I see them sitting at the on-ramps, which beforehand, I only ever caught county cops doing when we had that sniper running around here.

I was on the Parkway from Fair Lakes to Springfield this morning. I saw several FCPD cruisers and a couple VSP cruisers during my trip. Everyone was going 60-75mph, as they always do on the Parkway. If you go 50 you will have people riding your ass.

I've heard that if you invoke that defense when he/she approaches your vehicle, the officer is more lenient, more likely to let you skate. After all, they're people too who can relate to that.

That road can easily handle a 75 mph limit. It's not a speed issue. If it were, why 55 mph? Why not 50 mph or 45 mph or 40 mph ... or even 25mph. There would be even fewer accidents and fatalities.

police are the nicest people; just like pawn shop owners, bill collectors, and car impound lot attendants, they care.

the 50 mph speed limit on the Parkway is a fuckin cash cow for the police. That is a mainly limited access highway road, needs to have a 60 mph speed limit

oh please. 7100 is not built for anything more than 50-59 mph. Do more than that, and you're asking for it.

There are plenty of cross streets that don't even have stoplights. Every accident on that road seems to take a limb or a life. Increase the speed limit past 50, and people will be doing 70. (ok, some already are, and I hope they get a ticket before they cause an accident and take someone out with them). Since when did every self-important speeder become road and traffic engineers? Really.

You make life difficult for the ones doing 50, and the ones doing under 60. Since when did every 4 lane highway become your own personal freeway to make the rules and terrorize?

MWWA has had that gig for a few years now. fairfax county has teenagers with pot to catch they cant be bothered with people speeding to work on 267. MWWA likes to sit under the bridges by the airport and under the bridge just before herndon monroe going away from Dulles. also the roads around the employee parking lot for the airport.

Could be that all posts miss the point for this "50 means 50" campaign.

With all the property values of homes going down the last 2-3 years, the county is losing lots of funding. Like all governments, Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors need and want money money money
