The building has eight sides. It was built by Mr. James Vincent and the building was known as Vincent's Octagon for many years.

It was a bar called Boomerangs that had dancing at night.

When it was a bar it may have also been called Manhattans at some point too.

I think someone mentioned it originally was built for a furniture store. I'm guessing built late '50's. I first knew it as Vincent's Hobby and Sporting goods store. Which ages me enough knowing that. I believe the Vincent family owned a bunch of property around the Rt. 123 and Route 29,211 & 50 years back.

Went to Ruddfuckers last night for a cheeseburger. To go and no fries I said.
Waited 20 minutes. Nobody speaks English worth a hoot. Only two working in
kitchen. Slow. Every order in front of me was messed up and brought back for
some reason or another. Finally I get mine but they missed "to go". They gave
me fries anyway. I'll make my own at home from now on.

The Vincent family also owned a diner where Denny's is now.

GMU Hokie, Do you know if the Vincent's owned the old Fairfax Theatre? Which is now the Toyota dealership. They saved a portion of the theatre building when they built the dealership. I've always wondered why they didn't tear down the whole building and start from scratch. I was in the old Fairfax theatre in it's waining days. I think it was a junk shop at that point, and the building looked in pretty bad shape. Could it possibly have been a historic preservation thing with tax credits involved?

Wow, US Route 211? Never seen that in Fairfax. Looks like it now starts out in Warrenton and goes west, but still retains the name Lee Hwy. I guess 29 totally took it over.

You have any other old photos of the county? I find stuff like that pretty interesting.

I remember Roy's there until maybe the late 80's I also remember Fuddruckers being Boomerangs.

"anybody remember the Roy Rogers that used to be

Yes and before that I think it was a Gino's, which has risen from the dead over in Baltimore.
Before the Gino's I seem to recall a huge concrete block building that was an AAmco garage

I never remembered a diner being next to the Fairfax theatre just parking lot before it actually stopped showing movies way back.I do think the Denny's that is there now was called something else when it originally opened. Dare I say it might have been a "Sambo's"?

Some of them were renamed "The Jolly Tiger".
But I think that one was still Sambo's.

The Fuddruckers in Fairfax was the "Crows Nest" in the mid 1960's. It was a teen dance club. After the Crows Nest closed, it was a dress shop for a few years. I don't remember the name of the shop though.

That was one of the last Sambo's. I think they changed the name about 1980.

Hi,
From about 68ish to about 71, it was called "The Hippy House" clothing store.
I used to have a picture of the sign.

The Fairfax Theater is behind the Gulf station at the intersection of 29-211 and route 50.

Before it was a Roy's, that was a Gino's where the Rite Aid is now. Only standing Gino's I can think of is the Popeye's at Greenbriar. They had a distinctive shape.

The "Dong-a-asian" (probably spelled wrong)Market at Fairfax Circle is still the basis structure from the old Gino's and the Gino's building at Tyson's may still be there.

Isn't the theater in that picture the one which is now a Toyota dealer? The old theater which is now Hudson Trail (used to be Hudson Bay Outfitters, until Home Box Office sued them) is down at FFX Circle, two totally different places. That old theater at the circle used to be the largest in the area, I remember it being HUGE.

Hudson Trail is where the old movie place was down at the circle, right next to BUBBAS..hahahaha.

The Fairfax theater which is close to the intersection of 123 and 50 is indeed now a Toyota dealership
