Yeah, you're going to jail. In Virginia, you get 1 day of jail for each MPH over 90. So that would be 12 days in jail for you. DON'T DROP THE SOAP!

That's 47 miles per hour over the POSTED SPEED LIMIT!?

The police classically allow you to speed 5 to 7 miles over the speed limit, depending on conditions.

What the hell got into you?

You know 'Speed Kills' (the speed drugs as well)

Just how far up your ass is your head, anyway?

Just think, you keep this sort of thing up, and you'll probably end up having to go to places like The Lamb Center - and places like it! Go visit these places and see what a place like it has in store for you. (and other Homeless Shelters in the region) For the rest of your life? Pretty boring way to exist. Check 'em out! If your smart enough, you'll stop doing crazy shit like this 102 in a 55. If you have any real sense, you'll do 50 in a 55!

Does your Mommy and Daddy know about this stupid stunt you have pulled?

Are you suicidal? Need therapy? (This works somewhat/sometimes if you go to the Psycologist/Psyhiatrist and get an 'assessment' done, and whether you will or will not do such a stupid thing again or not, etc., etc. - and for real, why you did this to start with - if you go that route, be carefull what you say to the doc! Present the documentation to 'Da Judge' and all, or even before the court date with an appointment with the proper authority (Traffic-prosecuting attorney?)

AND -

There should be courses to take, that are actually designed to help, like 'Drivers Training for The Mentally Impaired' (joking) - but for real - there are courses like with the National Safety Drivers Councel courses and shit - Google it, and read and heed.

For more time to complete this kind of stuff (if you have the time and $MONEY$)
you should, more than likely be spared going to jail, but you should really be, for real, sincere about it all.

Try finding out all the really gruesome details and even pictures of badly injured people from high-speed auto wrecks and shit - take a good long look at 'em and imagine you being there/that person. A lot of drunk driving courses show some pretty horrible stuff sometimes (at least they used to)

I am a victim of a high speed drunk driver accident myself. Was killed dead with major head injury(s) about 37 years ago. Real bloody damaged, and the operations to fix everything as good as they could, was worse than the accident itself!

It was all in all pretty bloody horrific! I drowned in my own blood and mucous (that's snot and blood) is what actually killed me!

Would you like to go thru something like that, or just keep damning the officer and system that found it necessary to pull you over and give you a ticket?

Being disabled since has not been fun, either.

Write a very seriously, apologetic sincere letter to the Judge/authorities as well, and in the meantime, contemplate what you have done. It was wrong. You could have very easily hurt/killed yourself and/or others. Something/anything could have happened un-expected at that speed, especially at that rediculous speed, and you could have done nothing to avoid a major accident/fatality.

Be Wise, Safe, Healthy, Alive not Dumb and Stupid, Blind, Crippled, Crazy, Mamed or Dead! Besides, any person of the opposite gender would have much interest in you if you were the latter of the two listed. And what is you best interest in life?

107 doesnt mean anyone has a deathwise. some cars can easily handle that. doesnt mean he isnt going to jail, but most decent german cars can do 110 w/o any difficulty.

A a senior in High School I got up to 100+ on my motorcycle, being paced by a VW bug of all things, on Kenilworth Avenue near College Park, MD. I was probably wearing a leather jacket and jeans (and of course, helmet) but, when I look back on it now about 40 years later, I have to consider myself extremely lucky not to have broken something on the bike (like a tire maybe not rated for 100+mph! )causing a catastrophic crash.

Kids do dumb things, huh?

I got pulled over a few years back for doing the exact same speed as you.. 102 in a 55. I'm actually lucky, I was doing 117 before but he only caught me at 102. It was in Ellicott City, Maryland however, at 3am. For some reason, I only got a speeding ticket instead of reckless or anything. No jail either. I was 16 at the time and like 3 months with my license. I went to Howard County court and had a lawyer and got the charges dropped because two officers pulled me over and the one who had used the radar gun didn't show up. My lawyer argued hearsay and the charge was dropped completely. Incredible.

The day I got pulled over was one of the worst/best days of my life. It taught me a very valuable lesson about speeding and I took a driving class (recommendation from lawyer) so now I have +5 good points on my license and haven't been involved in any accidents or gotten any tickets since then (not that I had any accidents before).

Anyways, some loopholes may get you off. I recommend taking a driving class before to show the judge you changed. It's going to be a daunting process, but it just goes to show, you can prevail. The incident completely changed me and I'm glad that nothing happened in terms of crashing or anything like that. I'm very lucky. Take this opportunity and change from it. I never speed more than 5 or 10 mph now. Also, hire a good lawyer -- you're going to need it.

Good luck.

Well said indeed!

Look I am glad to see an asshole reckless driver busted. Im tired of having dirt-for-brains jerkoffs like you making our roads unsafe. All those cars with kids you passed going 102 will be safer. You know our lives are valuable and fuckfaces like you that speed like that deserve more than twelve days in the can.

You should have your license revoked for at least a year idiot. Maybe that would keep you from potentially murdering whole families so you can 'test drive' cars on public streets. If you had any fucking balls you would go to a closed race course and push it to the limit. But you are just too much of a fag to actually risk hitting anything other than a minivan full of young kids right?

Enjoy jail and your new insurance rates douchebag

In Texas, it seems 80 mph just isn't fast enough.

A bill passed in the state House of Representatives would raise the speed limit to 85 miles per hour on certain long stretches of road or designated lanes. The Senate is working on a similar proposal.

If the bill becomes a law, Texas will have the highest speed limit in the country

Ever drive from OK to NM? Except for Amarillo, 85 mph is still too slow on that stretch of interstate.

Doesn't Texas already have the highest posted speed limit in the country? It's 80 MPH once you're west of Kerrville all the way to El Paso. Second fastest I've seen was 75 in Arizona and New Mexico (in parts).

Man, fuck Ellicott City. I had to drive through that shithole once. All kinds of shitty low speed limits even on the main roads. I mean, what kind of 6 lane road is 25 mph speed limit? Now that is some bullshit. The only place I can think of that is at all similar is the section of rt. 28 through manassas where it is 4 lanes and 25 mph and the bitch Manassas cops will get you for doing 29.

I don't believe this is legit. Post the ticket.

If you are serious about fighting this you've got two options: First you can hope and pray that the copy doesn't show up for trial, loses his notes on your case or otherwise screws up. Second you can go out and spend lots of $$$ to hire the best connected criminal attorney, follow his advice to the letter and hope that the attorney can get you a deal that won't see your license suspended for too long. 102 in a 55 zone is almost twice the limit. How can you not know that you were travelling very fast. BTW don't try the I only thought I was doing 85, because the judge isn't going to care by how much you thought you were over the speed or reckless limits.

Rest assured, if that happens, nobody will say, "That guy must have been really cool to be driving that fast." We will be explaining to your friends and family why your death wasn't a mistake or accident and why it was well-deserved.

Whether you get nailed to the wall or a lawyer gets you out of the charges, please learn a lesson from this and slow the fuck down.

Consider yourself lucky. Imagine your life today if you were injured in the Hospital having to live with killing men women children and or babies. Once better you would have to show up in court and hear the lamentation of the surviving Moms Dads brothers and sisters of the people you killed. At some point you would see all of their pictures; pictures of a kid playing baseball, a mom holding her baby, a dad surrounded by his young kids and wife.

How different would your life be? Think about it.

Hey, dummy, do you really think the judge is going to take your word over a cop's when you say you were "only" doing 85? Do you understand that he hears some variation of that shit about twenty times a day? And who cares if pacing isn't accurate down to 1/10 of a mph? He didn't bust you for doing 56 in a 55! If the cop was off by 5 mph, so what?! You were still doing 97! You're toast, moron.

I'll think of you and smile the next time some fuckwad cuts me off after passing on the right while doing 90+ in heavy traffic on 95.

Cenobite the Pinhead, Nice Complimentary picture to the thread! Lacking the more detailed condition of the driver, though. Is that his hand sticking out of the what used to be the driving area of the Vet?
The creator of this thread should be paying attention either way. I see a lot of idiots have idot comments motivating continued idiot driving behavior.
Just remember, a race track is a CONTROLLED driving environment, and STILL, there bad accidents and people die on them.
Is thi what the clowns making the remarks or the originator wants?
My previous recommendation looks the best. An attorney won't be of much use.
Do as much as you can with the list of stuff already explained to submitt to the judge before or during the first hearing, plead guilty of course, the judge will be easier if you do (UNLESS THE OFFICER DOES NOT SHOW, OF COURSE, IF THE OFFICER DOES NOT SHOW, PLEAD INNOCENT WITH A REQUEST FOR DISSMISAL!)

Justin Daniel of the Whitestone firm is brilliant! The general rule is one day in jail for every mile an hour over 90, so you're looking at 12 days, so you're looking at serving a week. You definitely need a lawyer. Call this guy. He helped me with my DUI. Highly recommended.

I can't say I've never gone that fast just to try out a ride, but that's obviously conditions permitting, and it's not something I'd ever do on a regular basis. Before bashing you I'd have to know about what kind of driver you typically are, and what the traffic conditions were at the time.

As a first point, just don't do it again man, it's not worth it. Next time it'll probably be a better idea to hit-up the drag strip in Manassas, or the race course in WV (North of Berryville, VA). I was lucky when I sped before, and I don't do it anymore as it's simply not worth it. The last thing I want is to get my car impounded, or end up with a record that could screw up a job. Not to mention the random freak accidents that can happen around here with wildlife.

Finally, get a good lawyer. If you have no record of repeated previous offenses, then you might get off with a suspended license and a fine. Certainly, though, get a lawyer.

Reckless driving is only a class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia. Therefore if you have ties to the Commonwealth an officer shall release you on a summons regardless of speed. If your going in hundreds, you can probably guarantee few nights in the slammer. I know someone who was going 103/55 and spent 8 days. She was also arrested for .18bac......

Maryland on the other hand does not have a reckless driving charge. They only have speeding.

Normally, I hate to pile on, but in your case, I will make an exception. On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of people with families that live in this area, abide by the laws, and try to live a decent life, I hope you get exactly what you deserve which is a nice healthy stay in lock-up. At that speed, if a tire goes, if you hydroplane, if someone with a brain going a decent speed gets in your lane, if an animal comes into the road etc you are going to kill yourself, which wouldn't be so bad, but you might actually take someone else, or multiple someone else's with you, which would be tragic.
I am assuming (hoping) that you are just young and therefore somewhat ignorant to the dangers of doing idiotic things like that, and, if that is the case, the time you spend in jail (you are almost certainly going) will give you a lasting change of perception I am sure.
By the way, the maximum possible penalty for a class 1 misdemeanor is a $1000 dollar fine and a year in jail. start worrying- a lot!

You know something, OP?

There's a woman - was going home on 123 a cpl months ago.

Making a left onto Henderson

I'm sure she saw the oncoming car, but in prolly NEVER occured to her that the dude in that SUV was a selfish asshole such as yourself

I'm also sure the SUV driver thought that going 90plus was ok, since it was late at night, not many others around

She's still dead, and the SUV guy..............well nobody seemingly cares about it anymore, it looks like.

Anywho, something to think about next time you want to try and risk someone's life just for a cheap thrill

@PackLeader - there is NOWHERE in this county, AT ANY TIME, day OR night, that it is safe, acceptable, or reasonable to drive that high over the limit.

NO WAY, NO HOW!

This aint Montana, yo.......................

Next time you want some speed in your life, plus point something at your head where the projectile is moving at about 2200 feet per second , so you dont kill me or my family by your stupidity. And yes grow up..

I'd get a lawyer. I've used John Bell (office in Burke) in the past and hes pretty good. The cops always show up to court in Fairfax because the courts schedule all of their cases together. That's why sometimes you'll have a court date way far out (like 4 months) because the cop isn't scheduled to appear in court again for a while.

My understanding is in some other jurisdictions the courts don't schedule officer's cases together so there is a legitimate chance of them not showing up.

Also disagree with the "theres never a safe time to go that fast". I mean if you're on a straight highway in the middle of Iowa without a car in sight in the middle of the day who cares? The only person you could potentially injure is yourself.

Number 1.. Pray to God that you weren't driving in Fairfax County
Number 2.. You can go to driving school beforehand but it really will not help that much
Number 3.. Hire a good lawyer, be ready to put up some cash..

Basically, the only thing that is going to possibly lessen your jail time is a good lawyer. The police officer WILL show up because they get in so much trouble if they dont, especially for a ticket like this. Also, I hope for your sake you were extremely polite when you dealt with the officer because it will help you in court. But basically if you try and go with the argument that "you didnt know.." you are done for. Be a man, take responsibility, and hope for only 48 hours in jail with a good lawyer. The last time I was in traffic court there was someone going 92 in a 60 with a lawyer and they got 48 hours in jail for a first offense. So that is what I would pray for... and I also pray you are never near me on the highway because clearly you are reckless.

OP, you need an attorney, like NOW. Attempting to come up with some kind of loophole on your own or telling the judge you know you weren't going over 85 is almost sure to fail.

This was a state trooper who wrote you up - they are far more professional than the local cops. The odds of the trooper making a mistake or not showing up are very very low.

That high over the speed limit and you are almost certain to get some jail time if convicted. Your #1 priority right now is to hire an attorney. Sell whatever you can to afford it but take care of it now.

Even if there was a 75mph speed limit in Virginia, let's see you back that up by driving your car into a bridge support at 27 mph.

I can see the cloud of smug you exude from here...

Everyone speeds like hell on 95S, people on the right lane's are going at the least 70 and it's not odd at all to see 90-100+ in the left lanes. I personally have only seen a handful of people going less than 80 on the left lanes, when there isn't traffic of course.

I guess what I'm trying to say is. You've obviously never driven on 95S before, people speed like demons down it regularly.

BTW, how's the view from up there in that ivory tower of yours?
