Not defending either of the guys but that still leaves close to 2,000 cops and deputies in Fairfax who just go to work do their jobs and stay out of trouble.

Anyone know how many sheriff's deputies there are in FXCO? The fact that two are suspected pedophiles in a department which I guess numbers 150-200 makes me question their selection and background screening process just a bit.

I think the number is closer to 400. I think the cops have 1400-1500. The deputy who killed himself had 19 years on the job so I suspect he hadnt had a background check for almost 20 years. A lot can happen in that time. Almost 2,000 people is a lot to keep track of.
I do not defend these two just hate to see the rest painted with the same brush. If you work for a big agency of the government you can get lumped in with guys like this just for wearing the same uniform. Kind of like lumping a postal worker in with the ones who shoot up the buidlings.

I actually knew Romero a few years ago. He was married to a friend of mine. The marriage had lots of issues, and they divorced. What I remember about him is that he was mean as shit to everyone but kids. He really liked being around kids. He had two of his own, and offered to babysit others. He offered to keep mine while we did a girls' night out, but he gave me the creeps, so I made other arrangements.

I agree two is too many. I checked the state register for sex offenders and there are a lot out there on parole. The map search tab is great for finding out who is living near you. Most of those guys are downright scary looking. A couple of guys were in their late 70's and one dude was 80. Gives meaning to the phrase dirty old man.

Well I too had the displeasure of dealing with Deputy Robert Romero aka Coach Romero with the CYA Football before he was busted. This creep coached my son in football. During one of the games/practices, my son was seriously injured. When I arrived, only several other moms were with my son, he was laid out on the grass covered with blankets in total pain. This man never came to see how my son was doing even though he was his coach. After a night in the emergency room and we determined the injuries, I called him on his personal cell to let him know that my son would not be able to play the rest of the season....the jerk never returned my calls or to call to see how my son was doing....guess he was busy molesting all the other boys. Just a reminder, just because they are coach, police officer, minister does not mean your child is safe. In the past year we had a layman at Truro Church in Fairfax busted for child porn on the church computer!!! For all above that praise this man about how he loves children....you betcha!!!
