Deactivated Verizon Landline - 911?

I have been using VOIP for a while but think I will move to wireless-only. Some areas of the country, from what I have read, have 911 working even with deactivated landline connections (i.e. no dialtone). Does this work for us in Fairfax County or is the line really dead for 911?

911 will work with dead line or cancelled serivce anywhere.

Uhh, no. That only works with cell phones. If they disconnect your landline service, often they physically disconnect cables. If you ain't got no dial tone, chances are, your line simply isn't plugged in on the telco side, and you ain't getting anything through that

If the line is dead no way its working. Dead = no connection to the CO so no calls would work at all.
