My sister can sing. This is her story.
I am a 20 year old college student, born and raised in Fairfax County. Ever since I can remember, my 18 year old sister Michelle has been singing her brains out. She is an incredibly talented and dedicated vocalist who plays piano and guitar. I love her and all I want is to share her talent with others so that she can achieve her dream of being a recording artist.
One of my first memories of Michelle singing was when she was only 4 years old. I remember Michelle practicing diligently for her preschool graduation, where she and her class sang 'What a Wonderful World.' Ever since, Michelle's life has been 24-7, 365 music. As a child, Michelle participated in school and church choirs, school plays and performances, swim team national anthem performances, and in any other opportunity to perform she could get her hands on. When Michelle attended Rachel Carson Middle, she sang in Chorus both years and attended many solo competitions. Michelle took guitar and piano lessons in her early years as well.
Michelle's singing career continued as she got highly involved with the Oakton High School Choral Program. As a freshman, Michelle was in the advanced women's choir and by the time she was a senior she was in several different ensembles, lead the women's a Capella group, conducted different choral groups, and many more achievements.
Currently, Michelle is enrolled and taking courses leading to an Associate's degree in Music at NVCC. She takes private voice lessons and is a member of the Northern Virginia Women's Chorus.
Apart from her academic music endeavors, Michelle finds every single opportunity to showcase and share her talent in and passion for music. Michelle practices with other instrumental artists who have the same musical interests and endeavors. She has a youtube channel on which she posts viewer requested song covers.
In November, Michelle and our family traveled to New York, NY where she tried out for America's Got Talent. Yesterday evening, she received a call from a producer saying they were going to review her youtube page as a last deciding factor for whether or not they will admit her to the next round. I have been spreading the word over facebook and twitter to all of my friends and followers to drive traffic to her youtube page.
I want nothing more right now than for my sister to achieve her dream of being a recording artist. She works so incredibly hard and is so talented. She has grown into a woman that I am so proud to call my sister. She is kind, funny, beautiful, talented, and dedicated.
The world needs to hear Michelle's voice. For the moment, I will start small with my home town that I love so dearly. Fairfax, Please watch Michelle's videos, spread the word, and be a part of helping Michelle achieve her dream. Thank you so much.
Most Sincerely,
Emily McHugh

P.S. Michelle has no idea I posted this. When we were younger, I did not support her passion and dedication for music. In the past few years we have significantly improved our relationship and I now could not be more proud of her. If she saw that I posted this she would probably cry, as this is far from my attitude toward her singing when we were younger.
