Random dudes approaching...
Posted by: Doesn't Matter ()
Date: March 03, 2011 02:49PM

It has happened to me twice now in the Fair Lakes area. The first time, I was pumping gas at the gas station in the Fair Lakes Shopping Center. This white dude, about 30yo using the other side of the pump that I was on, walks around to my side and asks if there was a Golds Gym near by. Then he starts asking about where I live, what I do, where I work, so on. Then He gives me his card and tells me about this great opportunity to earn extra income... blah blah blah. It was for an international web based development firm... with no website lol. Then, a few days later, I was at the Fair Lakes Home Depot and another 30yo white dude randomly says to me, "Well you're bundled up!". WTF? Who would do that? I say, ..."Yep." and keep walking. The dude follows me and starts asking the same questions. Then he tells me about a buddy of his who runs this multimillion dollar business and who is looking for good people to join the company.

Has anybody else been approached by any white, early to mid 30yo, clean cut looking guys in the Fair Lakes area recently?

If not, it can only mean one of two things:

1. They are CIA out to kill me as I have recently uncovered a massive... cover up during one of my sleepwalking sessions and don't know it.

2. I am a cunt hair away from being bro. raped.

Either way, bummer.

I was approached by some weird 40ish black guy last week. As I was leaving the mall, he followed me out to the parking lot and asked me the time then proceeds to tell me about two people doing it in a white van and would I want to go to see it.

There must have been an Amway convention in the area recently.

Same thing happened to me in the Borders at Kamp Washington a couple years ago when this guy just spontaneously springs up a conversation with me, ending with an offer to join "his" business. Then just a few weeks later it happened again in the same Borders with a different guy. They need to get more creative with their recruiting techniques.

I was in the Target out in Fair Lakes (about a year or two ago) and some random girl (she was younger than me, so she's a girl) noticed me and, I felt, trailed me through the store. She introduced herself, and very caually asked if I was looking for a job or if I knew anyone that wanted to get in on a great opportunity with a financial services company. She gave me her number and asked if I was interested in doing financial work, her company is looking for people, blah blah.

Its a scam, nobody goes out looking for warm bodies this way, they place an ad or go through Monster.com or go to the local state office for unemployment. I never called because she didn't even have a business card, but did have her number ready on a card. I smelled scam and stayed away.

Yeah they look for something to focus in on and start a conversation. Both times I had been approached while gassing up in Fair Lakes. I think one time it was a question on directions and another he focused on a college sticker I had on my car.

I was pumping gas at the McLean Shell and had one of these clowns approach me trying to push business cards into my hands and talking shit about some "great business opportunity" and how he wanted to get me on a "conference call"(?) to tell me all about it.He was really excited and oh so confident about his "product".

I purposely shook the last drops of the gas nozzle on his shoes and pants, accepted his card with a smile and a hearty "you betcha", bumped fists, put the card on top of the gas pump in front of him and drove off.

Mine was a tall blonde haired guy with kind of a Southern accent. Was that him?

quixstar.

i've had about 3 or 4 guys get me between barnes and nobel and fairlakes area.

one guy got me at a gas station asked me if i was famous because he recognized me. yeah, famous people drive 14 yr old toyotas! right.

this guy ran me into the ground after that with his speech. all he talked about was this website but never told me what it was. it was too complex to explain.

after i found out what this guy was all about it was fun after that.

the next guy got me at barnes and noble. he got me in the "computer section" asked if i was in "IT" and said he did "IT" too, and had a website. after about 5 minutes i asked him if this was quixstar, he said yeah, and i said, sorry not interested.

i LITTERALLY walked over to the next aisle, and this guy said "what do you do for work?" i responded "quixstar?" he said "yeah" and smiled, i said "thought so" and walked away.

another one hit me up recently at B&N, i said "no thanks" as soon as he started his thing.

i have a friend who does quixstar, he said the reason they hang out at book stores, gas stations, and hardware stores is obvious, but he said its actually related to their main motivational audio tape (or CD) which mentions these as target spots, so the newbies go straight to these looking for young males that give a successful and motivated vibe, but also a weakling looking for approval and leadership. basically me.

Amway/Quixtar/whatever they are people all seem like brainwashed cult members. Cults have the same style: I was at Target a few years ago and this girl cornered me by the lamps telling me about her "church," where they believe that God is a woman, and I must must must join b/c it's "so beautiful."

Re: Random dudes approaching...

Haha. I've been approached by both. The Quixtar and the Woman God people.

The Quixtar people are extremely annoying. Ever since I reported them to the B&N management at Tysons mall, I haven't been approached by anyone there. That's been a few years. There used to be this couple always there. These people do get brainwashed. A good friend of mine was in it and finally left. There was an article about them that mentioned they even got a doctor working for them. This lady would spend her Saturdays hanging out outside a McDonalds trying to recruit people. Now that's sad. The dirty secret about Quixtar is that the people at the top who make all the money are not really making money from selling or from their "downlines". They make most of their money selling expensive tapes and seminars to the dumbasses who think they're going to get rich by joining Quixtar.

As for the Woman God people, those are some extremely committed religious people. I hate to call any group a cult. You could say that about any religion. These people know the Bible like no one I've ever met and I've met many religious people. They go to church practically every day. Men and women separated, women covering their heads in the service and everyone is wearing suits. They celebrate the Jewish high holy days which apparently is a requirement to salvation. According to their beliefs we are all going to hell unless we join their particular church. They believe that the Korean founder was the reincarnated Messiah (Jesus), Nevermind that he never claimed to be so when he was alive. But after he died, his wife took over the church. She conveniently was recognized as the Mother God in the flesh. How nice. Their meeting place is in some office complex in Fairfax.

I was in the parking lot at Bloom on Rt. 29 a week and a half ago when
two dudes, one white, one Hispanic pulled up next to me in an old and
rather beat up looking black van and the Hispanic dude says to me,
"Hey man, I got a Surround Sound home theater system for only $400.00
because it's an extra one from my job." I looked at him like he was nuts
and the white guy in the passenger seat yelled at him and said, "lets
get the fuck out of here man, I don't like the way he's looking at you"
and they sped off before I could get the license number. I called the
cops and the manager at Bloom too just to let them know where and when
it had happened. I might be old but I ain't stupid.

If you really want to get rid of them, ask them for a solicitor's licensee, and if they don't have one, tell them you're calling the cops as it's illegal to solicit in Fairfax County without one.

The proper term is "pornslappers". They're not always dudes either, I've seen plenty of female pornslappers out there.

easy fix.

When approached by a random dude who is trying to engage in conversation about religion, quix, amway, prime, etc, just turn you head and not your body and do your best evil speak. Something out of exorcist.

Simply say, "Interfere not with my mission, heathen, or be damned for your warped and weak mind slave matters." or similar dark non specific creepy words. Add in a cold death stare and you win.

The point being to get them weirded out or better, scared. It is not illegal and provides lulz.

I did this before and the guy walked away, looking back to see if I was following HIM! I wasn't. I just went on my way and did my daily things.

I'm thinking about checking out YouTube to see if there is a video of someone from Amway giving their pitch. That way when someone approaches and asks what I do for a living I can launch into the Amway pitch to answer the question.

This happened to me in a Wal-Mart, but it was an attractive mid-30s white woman, with a kid in tow. A really odd encounter:

I had taken the day off to go fishing and was in a pretty scuzzy outfit in the computer aisle when I got the vibe that something was amiss. Sure enough a MILFY looking woman kept eyeing me. Hmmmm... so she walks toward me.

Weird White Woman: "Hello, are you employed?"

Me: (Thinking, 'OMFG, this bitch thinks I'm a Mexican.') "Uh, yes. Yes, I am."

WWW: "I am in charge of recruiting for a large financial services company that is just opening an office in the area. We're looking to staff our operations." (Mind you, I had been fishing all morning and I've seen wetbacks hanging out at 7-11 more presentable than I was)

Me: (Trying to be polite, and also wondering if she really wants to bang me) "No, thanks. I'm employed and not looking."

WWW: "Are you sure? You look like you might be a good fit."

Me: (Thinking, 'What the hell kind of fly by night financial company would recruit staff in the aisles of Wal-Mart. Surely, she is a MILF looking for action. Maybe?') "No thanks, really. I'm not interested."

WWW: "Well, what do you earn per hour? We're a large financial services company and our pay package is great. I'm doing really well and we have some positions you might find interesting."

Me: (Finally getting annoyed as she thinks I'm some loser who would respond to a recruiting pitch in the middle of a fucking Wal-Mart) "I don't keep track anymore. About 165 per annum. I work for Price Waterhouse. We're a large financial services company. Ever heard of us?"

WWW: "Oh, I see." And she walks away.

So what the heck was that? Was that some sort of Primerica / Amway / other Ponzi scheme company pitch? I still wonder if maybe, just maybe, she was a MILF looking for a lay.

LOL, that's good to know. I only started seeing those folks the second or third time I was out there. The first time, back in the Summer of '97, I never saw 'em.

Now that you mention it too, I think a chick is the one that finally got me. I ignored the dudes the first few times I passed them and they didn't get to me. Then someone finally got to me. I think it was a chick who I made eye contact with *Dammit*.

Ha, they've been around for a long time, I remember seeing them when I was there as a kid in the 80s. But nowadays there are whole armies of pornslappers, and they're more aggressive. Always makes me laugh to see tourists get all shocked by them, and it's funny how almost all the litter you see in Vegas is porn-related.

I've moved from the area back in November, but in the 6 yrs I lived in Fairfax, and shopped in the Fair Lakes area, I'd say that never have I been approached as much I was in FL by weird ass organizations. There was a phase where every time I'd go to Walmart, which wasn't even all that often, the same people would approach me about "Hey, did you know that Jesus had a bride??" It happened about 5 times in a row, no lie. The last two times, they knew me by name and I'd never even met these people. "Oh, they heard about me from their associates", they'd said. WTF? "Heard" about me? I never even engaged in a long enough conversation for them to "know" me, much less be able to tell their "associates" about me. Did they go on a description, or were they waiting in the wings each and every time the previous people approached me?

Needless to say, it was effing creepy and annoying. I also remember getting hounded for an entire summer whenever I went up to FL area, by these mobile car repair dudes. They fixed little scratches and dents on your car right there in the parking lot, or something. I'd been swiped by a taxi and I had a small dent and scratch on the side that wasn't taken care of by their ins. co. yet, and I swear them effers spotted that shit clear across the parking lot with their bionic eyesight, because they made a beeline for me as soon as I drove out of the parking lot.

I had a similar experience in Target at Fair Lakes earlier today, but it was a 20-30 black male that approached me. I saw him again and noticed a manager nearby. I told her there was a creepy guy soliciting people in the store and pointed her to where he was. They got security (such a joke) on it and said they would boot him from the store. I don't need that crap when I'm trying to buy stuff.

it's a scam just like the women/girls who come up to you when you leave the grocery store and say (or hand you a note saying) that they are trying to feed their family and do you have and money to spare, or those alleged car fit-it dudes that Elle Diabla (two posts up) talks about.

NOBODY LEGIT WILL EVER APPROACH YOU AS YOU ARE CONDUCTING YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS!!!

It has been years for me, but about 5 years ago in Fairlakes I was approached by a man at the gas station there. NOT BJ's gas but the other gas station, across from Toys'r'us. He didn't give me a sales pitch, but he claimed he had speakers to sell me really cheap. I didn't really care from the first second of listening, but he continued to say I could sit in his car and listen to how good they were. I then immediately went inside the convenient store part of the gas station (luckily my gas was finishing filling as he was still talking) and I sat inside for about a half hour until he left.

I had some different experience. I was pumping gas and there was a big truck approaching me. Two beautiful girls rolled their windos and asked me where a huge mall (commonly known in that area) is. I said it is not nearby. Then, they shuttle off the engine. One girl came out of her truck and approached to me. Introduced herself and asked me if I am married. She then went on she just divorced and moved to town from California. She said I am going to give you my phone number which I still have. Then she followed me to the c-store and asked for some snack food for kids..Without knowing who she is and feeling awkward, i turned her off. I am wondering what this is about. Is she a hooker?

Last week a black guy approached me at the gas station and said he ran out of gas and did I have any cash. I said no and turned away from him. He then started screaming FUCK.

He scared the shit out of me. Asshole. If I had a gun I would of shot him. Crazy motherfucker.

Consider yourself lucky. That's a tried and true scam from down south that is slowly making its way north. Of course the person doesn't have to be black (no racial) but when you pull out your wallet to "help" them, they snatch the wallet and run. NVCC has had a few incidents where this has happened recently.

Do what I do..

First, nod in agreement to show your understanding. Answer the first few questions with basic false information (names, employment, etc). Possible combinations include Buster Hymen, Hugh G. Rection, Craven Moorehead, and Lou Stoole for names and most any job related to cleaning up medical waste or bovine semen collection.

Second, interrupt your new friend's conversation by pick you nose and asking if he/she knows of "a safe place to put this where nobody can find it."

Finally, if the person persists, offer your hand as if to shake it. If they grab it, try to bring them along in the direction that your are walking and tell them, "Come on, it will be fun. I have diarrhea and I am going to let you watch.

When they make a hasty retreat, yell back at them, "Aw man! What are you? Amish?"

They are taking up your time, uninvited, for their own personal financial gain. Anybody that participates in what they're pushing will get screwed over. They also do not have a peddler's license.

Make it unpleasant for them, please.

CSB time. My wife still bothers to tell unsolicited sales calls "no, and take me off of your list". I just hang up as soon as I determine that it is an unsolicited call in which I have no interest. I'm probably going to get rid of my land line because the only callers seem to be politicians and places that violate the do-not-call registry.
