Guilty or Not Guilty

I live in a apartment building. At night when I take my dog out for a bathroom break I usualy carry my smith & wesson navy seal tactical knife. the blade is about 4 to 5 inches long. I was wondering if somebody came up to me with a gun, and i fought back with the knife and wound up killing the person. would i be found guilty for murder or innocent on self defense

What did they do when they came up to you with a gun? Did they point it at you? Did they threaten you? If they are simply carrying it, it is not self defense - open carry.

Depends on the circumstances and the degree your actions were reasonable and prudent. Unless your dog wears a 14k gold collar, I find it highly unlikely that someone would rob you for it. Leave your wallet and knife at home. -§

Taking a knife to a gun fight is not a wise idea. Intent is the key here. I hope
you arent putting too much confidence in your abilities with a knife. If you tell
an armed assailant that you have a Smith & Wesson Navy Seal knife, he'll probably
laugh and say "Who the hell are you? Crocodile Dundee? Then he'd take the
knife and the dog and possibly shoot you. Hope the dog's not a Pekingese.

Not guilty because any one who has a gun and looses to a person with a knife is a moron.

In VA, you'd be ok if they made the first move that threatened your life. (i.e. they have to actually threaten you with the gun) Even if they didn't, VA is (from what I hear) lenient if its in self defense.

I dont know about DC, they'd probably arrest you.

Now if i was you, id stab him in the gun arm first and then in the penis. give him somthing to deter him from future crime

Just ask one of the goofy nuts in the "VCDL" about the rampant violent crime in most areas of Fairfax County and the urgent need to "open carry" a "rod" for self-defense. Forget the knife, buddy, what you need are guns....guns, guns, guns! The bigger the better, I always say.

Hell, I often "open carry" my .44 Magnum. It makes me look "cool" and will blow someones head CLEEEEAN off and leave them wondering if you fired 6 shots or only 5 in all the excitement.

Wow!, I want one of those! Does Ranger Surplus carry them? Looks like just
the thing for dealing with those rush hour boneheads who sit and stare off into
space when a light turns green. Cut me off will ya? Ha! Great for cookin'
hot dogs too.

Get rid of the dog....that way you don't have to walk the little pest in the middle of the night being afraid of being mugged. Or maybe you should just move to a "safer" area".

if they find the knife in his back or find the gun holstered and he turns up dead, you should plan for prison time.

look, if you are really that anxious to kill a person, just get it out of the way and murder someone on the street. the first one is always the hardest.
