Rain / Snow Showers predicted for Monday??
Posted by: NotFunny ()
Date: February 17, 2011 05:13PM

I was looking at the weather to see how hot (or cold) it's supposed to be tomorrow. It just so happened that I scrolled down to see how temperatures are gonna act next week. Something caught my eye. It says that there is a 40% chance of rain/snow on Monday night or Tuesday. Is this one of those ridiculous incorrect forecasts that we usually get for our area, or is this the real thing? Is wintry weather even POSSIBLE after these warm temperatures we're getting? Lemme know what you guys think about this...

Yes, there is a chance of some snow and rain Monday night and Tuesday.

Capital Weather did a nice write up about the rest of winter. They said that we could see above average snowfall in March because of the La Nina pattern we are in.

One model is showing that it could be a significant snowfall. It gives us 1.0" of liquid precipitation (and remember that 1" of liquid equals roughly 10" of snow).

Why worry about the preciptation that may or may not be around the corner? Why not just enjoy the great weather that we have right now? Go outside, get some fresh air and wash the salt and sand off of your vehicles.

Enjoy!

Next month out of the country will be closed due to snow, sorry.

Well circle the wagons!!! Holy shit, the wind is going to blow all day and there is a forecast of some clouds....maybe even a little precep from the heavens. Hit the supermarkets for your asswipe, bread and milk. Line up at the gas station to fill your car with gas. Burn all your textbooks to keep warm, you won't need them again this year as I am sure we'll have some cloudy days in the coming months and God knows they may actually have a little precipitation in them. Schools will undoubtedly be closed more than they are open.

If the kids spent as much time and effort on school work as they do avoiding it they would be much better off when they become real people.

Can I kindly ask you guys where you got these GFS precipitation graphs and maps? Been looking all over the internet for them, I wanted to look at some myself. Thanks! :)

From the Capital Weather Gang link from above:

Next accumulating snow chance: Monday night into early Tuesday
Probability of more than 1" of snow: 30%
Probability of more than 4": 10%

Then it goes on to say it's likely to be in the 60's Monday, so even if does snow, it won't last.

It's the same way it's always been around here. We usually have a thaw period in January, when we hit the 60's or 70's for maybe a few days. I even remember wearing shorts for a day or two in January before, but then we'd have a blizzard the next week. It's part of living in the Mid-Atlantic.

I believe the 60s will be the high temp on Monday. However, the low temp is supposed to be 29 degrees.

it appears schools will open 2 hours late due to frigid temps with a dusting of snow and then will close 2 hours early due to a searing heat wave.

LIES! We'll only find out what'll happen to schools tomorrow night, and if now, Tuesday at 5 AM.
