I have to say Reston on Glade Road. That area in the 80's was a real dump back then.

haha, I always thought that the apartment building in the first post looked like one of the Stalingrad multiplayer maps from Call Of Duty 1. There was an apartment building that looked a lot like that one. It does look vaguely Soviet in design.

Those streets behind Culmore Plaza are probably the worst, it's the first place I thought of. It reminds of some of the shithole gangbanger neighborhoods I've seen in LA.

Alexandria is full of little developments like that. There's as similar one over near Princess Street: Hopkins Court and Tancil Court. Fucking Section 8 shitholes. And right across North Royal street are a bunch of newer townhouses. Crazy.

The worst places I've ever seen were Arna Valley (Glebe Road & 395) before it got demolished and rebuilt by AvalonBay in '00 and South Kemper Road in Shirlington (demolished by Stanley Martin in '05). Arna Valley had over 200 Section 8 apartments and South Kemper had about 80 Section 8 townhouses. Fucking alcohol bottles and trash everywhere. Front and backyards looking like something out of Sanford and Son, people home all day long, some drunk out of their minds at 10am. Worst places ever.

Kentwell Circle off of Pleasant Valley Rd. Lots of drug addicts call it home!

The most visited street by FCPD....Hagel Circle in beautiful downtown Lorton.

Not in Fairfax County, but kinda near the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria. From looking at Google's streetview, the apartment complex looks downright nice, but in person the place looks dirty and neglected and the residents don't fit the demographics of Old Town at all.


It's kinda bizarre that this complex exists right beside townhouses and office buildings that could have easily gone for a million dollars during the housing bubble.

LOL. When I lived in old town, I used to wander around a lot. One evening as I walked home from Trader Joes, at that very intersection, I saw an angry fat black man punch a bird that kept flying around him. As the bird flopped around at his feet, the dude starting yelling, "Take that n*gger! Take that n*gger!" Then he kicked the poor bird across North Royal.

Also some parts of Greenbriar near Chantilly.

I used to deliver pizza's in Hybla Valley, so I will agree that the trailer park is probably one of the worst places to live, but there are some others that should also be considered. Here's a list:

Francisco Way
Buckman Road, 7 Woods, Janna Lee (Driver's got robbed here all the time)
Lockheed and Dart
Greenleaf and Denifield
Woodlawn Ct.
Colony Ct.

There's one other place that was straight up projects, but I can't remember where now.

One thing all these places had in common though: No matter how low the rent, the tenants could always afford pizza, and some even tipped well. So, I'd say, pizza places can thank section 8 for a fine bit of business.

commerce street apartments are real bad, i know a kid that got shot there and the residents in there are responsible for 90% bicycle thefts in springfield mainly crestwood

I'd include Harmony Court Trailer Park, which is on Rt. 1 near Hybla Valley, that last time I had to drive in there, which was several years ago, some of the roads weren't even paved.

On the other hand the Audobahn Trailer Park had some decent people living there, even though most of it was very sketchy.

Forgot to add, right there on Rt. 1.

Gum Springs, a historic Black community, currently yuppification has moved in and gentrigied most of it, but there was a time when it was so bad police wouldn't go in there alone. There's still plenty of thuggery going on.

Any place that lets you park cars on the lawn. For the life of me I never understood that. Even growing up although there was plenty of street parking some redneck always felt the need to park his POS on the lawn. Of course a few weeks of this and you have a nice place for mud wrasslin I guess.

I'm the one that posted about Centreville - specifically London Towne. Also, there's the places along St. Germaine Drive that are a bit seedy, too. Fortunately, they tore down the ghetto apartments across from the library. It was beginning to become a haven for a lot of illegals living there. But, the new condos in place of the old apartments are tightly fit into that old space, but the community area is surrounded by a 3-4' high iron fence. I guess this is to give the citizens the brief sense of security from the long lines of day laborers that stand outside the library day in and day out.

I'm not just ragging on Centreville because it might be the "in" thing to do. I am because I lived there 15 years. I watched how it went downhill, year by year. In the course of living there, I went from the majority to the minority. I sold at the top of the market and fled further out west. Sure, I drive a bit more to get to where I need to go. But, now, I truly have more open space and less congestion when I'm on my time off.

Oh, back onto Centreville for a bit. It seems like as the Asians moved into the various communities, so did the rodents. Our community started to develop a rat issue. Now, that makes me sick. We'd also have people argue about having to use trash receptacles, when it would be easier to just put out plastic bags of trash on trash day. Well, no wonder the rodents moved in. Free food! However, I also have to note that the use of trash receptacles is not a ruling of the homeowner associations, but it is mandated by Fairfax County.

Actually, the Fairfax County police department took over one of the apartments to use as one of the substations. This was due to all the incidents that were happening the last 2-3 years that those apartments were standing before the demolition. The apartment for the Police department had a nice 2' x 1.5' silver Fairfax County Police badge sticker on the sliding glass door, so you you'd be aware of where the cops were.

Actually, the reality of those campers and boats that park out on that road in front of London Towne is that those trailers probably don't belong to the residents of the community. Other communities like Virginia Run and Sully Station have regulations against parking such devices, so the owner have to flock to find an appropriate place to park their trailers (for free). The same goes for the area along St. Germaine Drive - lots of boats and trailers parked along there, too.

My time in association with that place was in the early/mid 90's. It was low end then, but not that ghetto yet. When you're in your early 20's, you just couldn't get a better scenario - get drunk as hell, walk 100 yards back to some girl's place, fuck her, and crash for the night.

We lived in Lorton Station (near the autotrain station) for several years. The property managers didn't give a shit about anything unless it happened in their particular building, where I didn't live. I had some extremely classless neighbors--this one family on the 4th floor used to throw their garbage off the deck and it would be hanging in the trees behind the building. While I was living there, the cops retrieved the skeletonized remains of a homicide victim my neighbor found on a walk. You could often hear screaming, yelling, Jerry Springeresque arguments going down and there was an attempted rape in our parking lot. Also, my POS car was stolen (it was locked and without keys in it) right out from in front of my building. Then there was the night I glanced out my window onto the patio and there was this scary-looking guy just standing there on my patio. I turned on the light and he didn't even move.

I could go on and on, but I think you all get the point.

Has Franconia surpassed Culmore as the high crime spot of the county? Don't hear as much reported in the news on Culmore as you do Franconia these days. Wasn't there another string of armed robberies just last week in Franconia?

Don't forget Lewis Chapel Road in Lorton, off of Lorton Road close to Hagel Circle, and pretty much same shit. Its close to an elementary school, all section 8 apts, and a complete hole.

ahh, oak knoll. lived there about 14 years ago. those windows are impossible to look out of, they are about 8 feet off the floor in the room. so forget about any view, but they are doing you a favor anyway. in that shot my apartment was the top right. they didn't tell us we had to put carpet down, and we were poor as fuck, so we went down to the plethora of carpet stores at 50/29 and bought a bunch of $1 samples and sewed that shit together.

Not sure its the MOST depressing, but has anyone noticed that most of the HERNDON's businesses NORTH of the tollway and within the Herndon town limits look like somthing from the 70's that has never been renovated- dark depressing buildings- badly lit at night. the herndon post office looks like and oversized trailer. the kmart nearby is a dump- most of the office buildings are dark outdated- they built a new Panera near that dumpy Kmart but the surroundings are so depressing Ill be dammed if i go there...The slow as hell Safeway store might not be that old, but it hasnt kept up with Harris Teeter or Wegmans- again dark depressing parking lot and exceptionally boring store.

Stupid post. As a native northwest dc and north arlington resident now living in springfield MOST successful areas were dominated by hispanics first. Its a great sign actually and central springfield is getting a potbelly soon! Great sign.

I agree that all these places are eyesores and i would think they wouldve been gentrified or developed or Something...

When i was in the streets runnin and gunnin i occasioned many of the above and unlike places in pg or dc i never felt actually Unsafe...

If i had to pick based on sheer amount of crime/shit going on id have to say

The circle (hagel)
spring garden apts (used to be much worse)
the whole janna lee buckman saquoyah woods area
culmore
kingston commons has 14yo girls whoring (fucking disgusting spics.)

Alexandria really is not that bad...the whole towers armistead area is nothing. Intown (the projects on the east side of old town)...southside (the ones by the hess/495)...and uptown (rt1 behind the mcdonalds area) are not like they used to be...now its just 15yos trying to impress each other kind of shit.

(Keeping in mind im white and resemble harry potter) the only places ive actually been concerned were Lincoln heights on one or two occasions...trinidad on july4th...

As of today, wannabe Fred Sanford is still kickin'. The junk truck is usually parked somewhere along the S Four Mile Run Dr access street. That entire 'hood bounded by Glebe, Walter Reed, and Four Mile Run would still be considered a little dicey by Arlington standards, but slowly improving. That cinder-block (?!?) duplex by the water park still gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Also, eesh in this thread pretending that he lives in Fairfax County, lol.
