Merrifield is a dump. I try and avoid winos as much as possible. I hate the bums who are the traffic lights that hold up a sign that says broke and out of work. They make the area look bad. I saw this in Fair Lakes.

I had a guy in the Bloom parking lot try this one about two months
ago. First he said his car was out of gas and needed $5.00 in order
to get to work or he'd be fired. Then he asked me if I could possibly
drive him to work in Springfield. (like I'd let a complete stranger
in my car anyway, yeah right) I walked away and he started the same
pitch on the next guy who came walking through the parking lot. I
told the manager and he told him to take a hike.

When I get asked questions like that my reaction is to call them on it, offer to walk with them to the gas station where their car is and I'll pay for five bucks of gas. Usually they just walk away. In the once-in-twenty times the need is legit I help out.

Walking down the street years ago with a fried of mine.. Homeless guy stopped us and gave us his life story. My friend told him he didn't have any money either and had just been evicted and didn't know what he was going to do cause he didn't know about shelters or street life at all and his car had been impounded. Homeless guy gave my friend 10.00 and his cell phone number and offered to let him stay at his place. My friend took the 10.00 and put it in his gas tank. IT was great

I just tell them to go to the Lamb Center at 3220 Old Lee Highway. I hear they take really good care of homeless folks there.

I had a black guy approach me in 711 at 1 in the morning, and knowing what he wanted I interupted his spiel immediatley with 'I got nothin' then when he tried to keep on with his bullshit I simply interupted him again saying the exact same thing in the same tone and he had the nerve to get pissy. I sure felt like a real asshole not giving him somethin for nothin.

They eat for free there, get their laundry done for free there and, if they are chronic criminals enough, especially repeat offenders of any variety of minor to major crimes, they are provided more and more extended sanctuary privileges by the jerks that run the place. The 'hardier' the record that shows very well just how stinkin' rotten the individual is the better sanctuary service the people in charge there the that much better sanctuary service.

They'll even better, put you in a 'sponsership' program and REALLY cator to your every need. Hotel voucher's. Bus passes. Gift cards. You name it. SSI/SSDI checks, free apartments. It's wild.

Then these same crooks come out to place like Merrifield and beyond and everywhere and PANHANDLE with a bunch of nifty bald faced lieing BULL written on signs or coming out of their crap filled mouths to get money from YOU while running up YOUR TAX dollar debt more and more and sucking the life out of every donation dollar they can so long as to fill their addictive habits, in which everybody KNOWS that's exactly what the 'panhandled' money is for because, as informed, they get everything and MORE that they need for everything else besides, accept for, of course, alcohol and illegal DRUGS.

And you know exactly where the panhandled money is going. To the local alcohol selling establishment and/or DRUG DEALER's that are readily available hanging out there, well protected and sanctioned right there at the good 'ol " THE LAMB CENTER ".






They know every 'Nick-and-Cranny' of the freeby world provided services in the entire region, most of them.

If you don't like wht you see in/at Merrifield, stay the hell away from the FX Circle are where this cesspool, the TLC is located.

Fair Oaks Mall is anothyer famous hotspot for these LOW LIFE SCUMBAG PANHANDLERS as well. When the TLC is closed, you can find most of these SCUMSUCKING SUMBAGS there, stealing stuff out of every store they can and doing their panhandling thing there as well.

And then there's the PAN-AM Shopping Center. another good 'hot-spot' for the panhandling chronic substance abusers,the partying centered in the wooded areas between there and the TLC.

Partying big time camp sites that hardly ever get appropriately raided by the local police. Yeah. Right there behind and including the Circle Tower's appartment highrise. Can't miss it. They party hardy with all that panhandled $$$ YOU SUCKERS GIVE THEM.

Week before Christmas: In a parking spot at CVS one night, hadn't gotten outta my car yet ... THUD! A man had slammed his body against my car. I worked in annandale years ago before the great migration of the mid 90's. There
used to be alot of crazies and crack head walking around. We use to mess with thier heads when ever we could. One guy known as the mayor would always ask for
.85 cent to get back to baltimore. even in the early 90's it would cost more than .85 cents. There was this couple would come around and try to sell junk
that they had found on the road. We told the guy that we would give him $100
if we all could have a go at his girl freind. The guy actually gave it some

Most of you have no idea what it's like to not enough money to support yourselves or family.

It's easy to pass judgement on people that are so far from your own reality and condemn them for doing what they have to do to survive.

If you had no home, phone, or nice clothes it would be very difficult to find a job, even if you spent a full day looking for one.

But who cares about the homeless or panhandlers, let's all just write them off as poor beggars who should be arrested for bothering us....? For some reason that doesn't sit well with me.

Next time you see someone in need why not offer them what you can spare whether it's food, gas, change or money. If they're actually looking for a job why not offer them one or even just talk to them to gain a better perspective of their reality.

I understand some panhandlers may just want a drink or some drugs but who wouldn't after dealing with some of you people all day.

About two years ago, I gave some homeless guy standing outside of Subway $2.00. I went in, ordered my food and walked back to my vehicle. When I got in, I looked in front of me and there he was, around the side of the building counting one of the biggest wads of cash I have EVER seen. Even if it was all one dollar bills, dude had more than enough money to feed himself for a week. It was then, I also noticed his fresh Timberlands. Never again.

Now, when someone begs for money, I simply tell them they are richer than I am becuase I owe $200,000 to grad school. True story!

There was an Eastern European woman and her little girl standing outside the Fairfax City H Mart exit this weekend.

I twice gave $5 bill to a panhandler outside the Farrugut Square Metro stations. Both times, the dude ran into the liquor store across from the Metro on H St.

If they are so hungry and thirsty, give them a bottle of water or some food. This way, you are literally giving them what they are asking for and not feeding some addiction such as drugs or alcohol use. I tried to give a homeless lady an unopened bottle of water once and she turned it down and said, "I only want your cash or change." I told her it was unopened and she told me it wouldn't help her. Proof she was an addict of some sort....

It was right in front of the McDonald's the second time with a different beggar. As I said, he went over to the liquor store instead.

As a philantropist , I carry around drugs and alcohol for the shuddering masses that can't afford them.

There is a guy at Fair Lakes I will see time and time again holding a sign. I drive right by him.

There was another time when I went to Balitmore for the day, I over heard some people saying how much they make in a day. I started to think maybe I should quit my job and start panhandling too. Luckily, I have more sense than that.

Better yet, get some $10 shell/sunoco/whatever gas gift cards and hand them one. That way you don't have to go with them or pull out any cash.

Haven't you seen the television specials? People make careers out of being beggars. This area is full of innocent, wealthy people, that don't think people could be making up lies.

I don't see people holding up signs very often, but when I do it makes me uneasy. Yes, there are some that are homeless and need food for their kids, or whatever. There's also foundations to help families like those, food banks, shelters, etc. If they had children, there's typically places to help feed those in needy.

The druggies can't go to those places. What are they gonna do, go to a foundation and ask them for an 8-Ball?

If you need bus money, gas money, etc, why did u go somewhere knowing you had no money to get back? Cuz you assume some stranger will help you? If your car broke down, call someone collect to pick your ass up.

Some panhandlers approach it like it's a full-time job. There's a couple of panhandlers in Ballston at the intersection of Wilson Blvd and George Mason Blvd. They bring their food, drinks, thermos, spare clothes, etc. and walk up and down line of cars everytime the light turns red.

IT'S SO OBVIOUS 'COMMONER' IS IS ONE OF THESE DRUNKIN' DRUGGEES OUT THEIR BUMMIN' UP A LIVIN' IT'S PATHETIC.

Let's say you average a quarter every light change. Lights change about every three minutes (or less). That works out to about $5/hour (20 changes, quarter/change).

We have had the same panhandler in our shopping center for three weeks. The first week he approached all my employees and me whenever we came in and out of our store. "Can you spare a dollar for coffee". I brought him a cup of coffee since we have a pot in our office. He proceed to pour it out when I turned around. Since them we and several other owners have asked him to stop. Today he threaten my employee when he asked him to move from in front of our entrance.

This guy is becoming a nunisance. Isn't there a law preventing this kind of solictation?

Why does anyone have a or any problem with panhandlers while illegal immigrants are getting channeled help with under the table nanny jobs and the rest? Entire networks of under the table jobs are being provided to illegals. They pay no taxes on the income
They also get very favorable treatment at churches and help centers as well.
While homeless, impoverished citizens are being turned away. And even harassed by many of these illegals with their entitlement attitudes.

The (L)amb (C)enter and its affiliated .orgs are perfect examples of this. Undermining the law and helping traffic these illegals thru the region and providing them with a string of pre-set up and provided under the table jobs. It is really disgusting.

Panhandlers are a blight.

Day laborers are an asset.

I had many encounters with the wide variety of local panhandlers. I've had a few similar experiences where people are asking for gas money. One time I was at a 7-11 in Centreville and this guy came running up to me saying he ran out of gas and needed money for a few gallons. I didn't give him anything.

Then more recently I was at a gas station in Burke filling up my car. A guy pulls up at the pump behind me and gets out asking the same thing, money for gas. What I thought was funny is that when I declined he just got back in his car a drove away. I guess he had SOME gas. I guarantee if I had offered to give either of these people a few gallons of gas they would have been confused since I know they just want DOLLARS.

And of course I had several encounters with either the sad gypsy woman or man with their supposed child asking for money. I think that's the worst one since they are using kids (even if they are their own).
