Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I took my kids to the open house at West Spfld Station, as the Firehouse beside it offered a two-visits for one trip kinda thing ;-)
This was the best one yet - It was well organized and friendly!
The first thing we did was ride the ponies. They had 4 or 5 of them there! Aside from the one girl at kept getting back in line, it was decent.
I put the "beer goggles" on and tried the "impaired driving" excercise. I didn't hit a single cone. (I think they were surprised...) The young folks that were working that, were really nice. They wore "Explorer" patches on their uniforms.
The exhibit of Police Cars was decent. A 1940 cruiser was accompanied by a 1991 Crown Vic, a 1994 CVPI, and a 2007 CVPI.
There was also a paddywagon and a motorcycle. Beside that, sat a Yamaha R1 police bike in full regalia!
The fire Dept got a call while we were there and had to leave in a hurry - lights & siren!
To the kids that (rudely) cut in line, tell your parent to act right and keep you under control. Then again, the paddywagon may need "customers" one day, so keep it up...
