Screws in tires Springfield
Posted by: optional ()

There has been a spree of screws being put in tires on Luce Ct in Springfield, off of Rolling RD. There were 5 incidents this weekend and 20+ over the last 4 months. This person is using screw so the air slowly leaks so you go places and are left stranded. If anyone has any info leading to an arrest may recieve a reward. We are trying to see if this is a wide spread case of just in our court. Thanks and check your tires before you leave.

i think the police would be a better place to start asking...

although I did have a screw in my tire recently... but it was either there when i bought it.. or got stuck in it on the 4.5 hour drive from where i picked it up..

Be careful in the contractors' part of the lots at Home Depot...all kinds of nails, screws, and shit laying around out there.

That said, I've picked up drywall screws in my tires before...and they rarely cause a leak. I just leave them in there.

Don't be so sure it is being done on purpose. Ever see the contrators trucks rolling down the street. Nails, screws, paint and drywall fall off them all the time. Check around on the street and see if someone has a home remodeling truck parked nearby. Or is someone on the street having work done. These guys dont give a crap on securing the load. If it falls off it is behind them so they dont care.

On the beltway I have seen all kinds of things flying off trucks. A few times I have seen shovels and rakes laying on the road. Imagine what would happen if a motorcycle hit those.

Good advice from Duh, never park near the contractors entrance at Home Depot. It is full of nails.

Well it should be easy to fix.

Go to Auto Express and buy a "plug kit." Costs about 10 bucks. You can probably plug the tire while it is still on the car. Borrow somebodies lighter plug in air pump and fill the tire back up.

I plugged a tire that had a screw in it. It took about 10 minutes and the tire lasted for years.

Oh yeah, certainly install a security camera. I have four and they are awesome! One has a remote unit that I can take all over the house if needed. I can be working in the basement and know when somebody pulls into the driveway. You don't have run TV cables any more most are wireless now and around $60-$150. Get one with infared for night time recording. You'll have the person on tape to give to the police.
