Dana Scanlan - fcps hearings?

Anybody had any experience with her? Also, why are hearings not conducted by an impartial hearing officer. Seems to stack the deck to use FCPS employees

That is a very good point. The hearings office should be totally unrelated to FCPS. They work at the behest of the SB and their boss (and evaluation supervisor) is probably Jack Dale or one of his close associates. It's sort of like the police department investigating its own shootings.

My neighbors son went through the process about 2 years ago. Not sure who her particular hearing agent was, but she said they are all basically lying corrupt filthy tyrants.

I don't see how one could NOT become jaded in that job after a while.

There's no integrity anymore, 99.999% of the kids AND their parents are lying to you. How the hell do you pick out the one in a thousand that's telling the truth?

What exactly is the background of these hearing officers? Are they lawyers, educators, former cops? There seem to be a bunch of them.

Dana Scanlon used to be a senior faculty member at Longfellow Middle School, I believe she was a Vice Principle, and I've never met another person who takes such joy in the one strike policy.

Dana Scanlan has helped a lot of students since she began working in the Hearing Office. I know two students who completely turned around for the better after their hearings.

Dana Scanlan is a fake racist liar. She can do whatever she wants and ruins the lives of minority children to keep the schools as white as possible. The school board is a dictatorship that NEVER changes its mind.

FCPS could save a boatload on firing her - over $100K in salary. She refers to herself as an "educator". The only thing she does is rubber stamp Gestapo discipline policy. I would hope the turn around in the recent SB vote would make her more humble - and worried about her job.

FCPS spent the 1st half of 2011 in the news over the operations of this office. At best, the people in the hearings office exhibited poor judgement and poor management. That would be the most charitable evaluation.

How can the person who was ultimately responsible for such poor performance still have a job?
