FCPS Make Up Day will be Feb. 21st, LMAO!

If FCPS didn't take the snow day on Wednesday when it rain all morning the kids wouldn't have to make up days now. Now the kids have to loose their first planned three day weekend coming up. HA ha ha ha ha ha

That would make February the SECOND month in the school calendar without a holiday or teacher work day. Do you think the FCPS employees will be able to handle that - four 5-day work weeks in one month?

I think most kids would be happy to trade in that upcoming 3-day weekend for the 7-day weekend they're in the midst of now.

And with a snowstorm next week, that 7-day weekend could be extended to possibly a 12-day one.

And there is a Teacher Workday this February. It is on February 1st.

Wow, I should have looked at my calendar! So that still leaves March as the only month WITHOUT a day off for FCPS. I guess that's why April has a full week off plus a 3 day weekend.

It really sucks having to make up all the days over the next couple of months. FCPS should still have at least one day off every two months or so and then just extend the school year into the Summer to make up the days.

It's really absurd that FCPS only has three snow days built into the calendar, whereas our next door neighbor Loudoun has 10 days. I mean, does the snowy weather just stop at the border?

It's that way so we can screw our hourly employees. No custodian or bus driver was paid for yesterday, the 4th snow day. Contrary to popular opinion, FCPS is very close with a buck.

Notice that we only make up EVERY OTHER snow day after the first three. So there really are more than three snow days built in to the calendar.

Since Feb is still a winter season so if we get snowed in for Feb 21 forcing schools to be closed, then FCPS moves on to the next snowday make up for Feb 21.

Did you get the approval by all the principals for this? All the staff will have to come in that day. What a disrepect for the presidents!

You should have the students decide if they want to go to school that day. They would probably vote for Monday and Tuesday of THIS week.

Actually, the calendar has 6 days built in. The first 3 are not made up then the next two missed days ARE made up, the next is NOT, and so on.
