So I was wondering if anyone knew about any good oktoberfest celebrations going on in or around fairfax county this year. I know I went to a pretty good one on Ft. Belvoir a few years ago.

I commute to to and from Richmond often and I know that down here we have a 15k oktoberfest bar crawl on oct 6, then there is a fairly large 2 day indoor thing at the end of the month 27/28.

I was looking for more of a festival type thing, maybe with carnival rides that I can puke my beer up on.

The one in Shirlington is this coming Saturday. They always have alot of good regional breweries, good food, etc. It's definitely worth checking out. It got pretty crowded last year, so go early.

I went to the Ft. Belvoir one last year too, but I wasn't very impressed. It was more like a regular old carnival with the name Oktoberfest stamped on it. It was still fun, but the one in Shirlington is way better, IMHO.

There is one at Reston Town Center every year. BAR CRAWL

Blocktoberfest at RFK stadium. Heavy promotion been going on DC101- "And tons and tons of bud lite" so if thats enough

Oktoberfest doesn't get any more authentic than drinking tons and tons of bud lite during a Jimmy's Chicken Shack encore.

FWIW, I heard the Brickskeller is having their 50th anniversary party tomorrow (Sun. Oct. 7). I don't think its theme is 'Oktoberfest' but I would imagine they will have pltenty of marzen-style and german import beers on tap.

The party was great. The place didn't get packed until about 6pm or so, by then our group was done serving beer. We got VIP passes which was cool, VIP was free beer and food.

OMG, the place was babe central! Completely full of hotties wearing close to nothing. Bands were good, but with three stages playing and VIP tent stages all going at the same time it was kinda band overload. Our beer station was next to the main stage so it was like being back stage at a concert.

I only have one pic and that's some of the volunteers early at the beer truck. A great group with a wacky sense of humor. I'm not in the picture, but the first beer tap on the right is where I was.
