hey all..So i have court on Jan 24th (10 days from now).

Back in November I was caught in a cemetery past dark, (it had been exactly 1 month since a friend was murdered and we could all only meet up at night to see his grave) and we had beer and someone had a bowl and some weed. A friend who was there that night had her bowl and ended up asking me to hold it..and she left before the police showed up. I tried ridding the bowl like an idiot and it fell and broke. I was charged with Marijuana Possession but had no Marijuana..just the empty bowl. They didn't charge anyone with trespassing or underage drinking (no one was 21). & let everyone but myself go scott-free.

So what should I say/do in court? I have no money for a lawyer and I was in school all last year but no right now. I'm also unemployed looking for work. I'm 19 and this is my first offense.

Any help or advice would be great.

This is not at all unusual you are charged for the resin in the bowl. You did indeed possess marijuana. I got the same thing once. I know you say you can't afford a lawyer. Well, if you can't work out a decent enough deal with the prosecutor yourself you can't afford not to have a lawyer.

First offense though you can probably get on some program with them.

Dude, you will be alright. Dress nice, talk polite to the judge, and you will get something like 40 hours community service, or maybe on your record for a year then it will be expunged if you do not get in any trouble in that year. You will have to pay court costs etc.. and a fine for misdemeanor possession.

Mental note.... NEVER hold a bitches bowl! Man, just stupid on your part. Roll a joint, roll a blunt, never ever carry a piece, just asking for it in this shitty county. If your in the country, no worries.. but fairfax county is plain and simple the worst county in Virginia. Hate this fucking place.

google 251 disposition, You're elgible for a pre-trial diversion. Pay around maybe close to $600- $1000 total in fines. DO 24 hours community service and stay out of trouble until probation is up. Drivers License will be suspended for 6 months too. Happened to me but im almost done with it.

Yeah, I could see someone getting in trouble at the cemetery. The cops where probably looking for the people who are stealing the vases for the brass. The Judge will line all the first timers up & offer them a substanes abuse class which you will have to pay for if you take the offer. You will not be able to get a court appointed Lawyer because there is no chance of you getting jail time. If found guilty you will have a fine of about $450 and your license suspened for 6 months.

It really depends on the judge.

I had the same charge, poss. of paraphernalia . . .

20 hours community service.

Sentencing and prosecution dropped.

No record.

No probation.

FX County.

That was 2 years ago. Grow up and move on, a lot has happened since 2011.
