The treasurer of the city of Fairfax apparently swore out the complaint.

It was over a five year period.

Could the treaurer be wrong,, perhaps.

But when a family goes and eats at an establishment, that establishment COLLECTS MEALS TAX ON TOP OF WHAT WAS ORDERED!!!!!

Police arrested the owner of Pizzarama on Fairfax Boulevard near Fairfax Circle for not paying $26,000 in Fairfax City meal taxes between December 2006 and June 2010.

Fairfax City officers arrested Cindi Azzouz, 35, at her restaurant on December 17 and charged with five felony counts of embezzlement. She was released on $20,000 bond, according to city police.

The investigation started in late June this year after the city treasurer made a complaint, saying that Azzouz wasn't paying her fees every month. Each of her five felony charges is for six months of failing to pay the meal tax. Azzouz was supposed to hold the meal taxes she collected in a trust until the city asked for them. Failure to give them up is embezzlement, as deemed by state law.

As residents of Fairfax we have a right to expect that all restaruanteurs that collect meal taxes have an affirmative duty to collect them as they are due.

CINDI AZZOUZ for 5 years apparently ignored the fact that she had an obligation to pay Fairfax City.

It appears prosecuting her was a last resort.

When busted, $4,000 was recovered - Could she not have sent at least a consistent amount each month? She had no intention of paying the meal taxes she is obligated to pay.

I suspect that if anyone ever visited her at home, you would see a very nicely decorated home, that she has very nice jewelry and she drives a nice car - all on the backs of the customers who paid said taxes.

Can one imagine if all restaurants followed her lead?

She did not. She paid sporadically.

If you can not see the injustice of her actions and the need for her to be prosecuted, then you have never worked an honest day in your life.

Because, the food tax goes into funds that allow the city to keep up the maintenance and keep the city of Fairfax looking nice. If all the business blew off the food tax payments, then you'd have Fairfax City looking like East L.A.

Them pizza up in this crap holes isnt very good. They aint got good nothing to eat and them service sucks. One time I went there for a good christian meal and was over powered by the crooning of the holy kooran. It must of been prayer time, got no service for 15 minutes.

In 9 years of doing business with them never had them refuse to take plastic. They've been closed for a while and I'm eager for them to reopen.

They've been closed for about two months, but are supposedly reopening soon.

According to a real estate broker, it looks like that space will be available soon.

As a small buisness owner who did work for them I can say with firsthand authority they are thieves. We did work for them and they wrote a bad check. She then said she was "sorry" and would send certified funds. She never did until Fairfax city police were about to walk up to the majistrates office and swear out a felony warrant for bad check on her. It disgusts me that sitting in her store was 4K in cash she could of used to pay our bill. Instead she chose to screw everyone around her.

She's probably got a job now in the Obama administration. Tax cheats are always libs.

Do you realize that keeping the taxes collected is embezzlement? That is money that they collected on behalf of the government not a tax the business pays to the government. If you go into many chinese carryouts you will see the use a calculator to run the bill then collect the money. My friend who works in the government said that is so they do not have to run a more reliable cash register tab and they keep most of the taxes collected for themselves.
Screw the restaurants that do this, they are stealing plain and simple.
