unmarked police

I was driving on 123 last night, going around 62-63 (yes, it's a 55 zone, and yes, I was speeding) when a Mustang pulled up behind me, tailgating like crazy. I switched lanes to let him pass, and he immediately switched, then this repeated 3 more times.

I pulled into a neighborhood and up to somebody's house and he turned around and went away. Then I went back out towards 123 and he was sitting there waiting for me and started following again. I crossed 123 and pulled into another person's driveway and he passed by me, at which point I could tell it was a red Mustang that had been following me.

I was able to get away - whether by completely incompetent driving on his part (which I don't believe) or (my guess) he just gave up and realized I wasn't going to be breaking anymore traffic laws.

I was scared out of my mind because I had no idea if it was just an unmarked police car or if it was some serial killer / psycho trying to get me. If it was a police officer, why didn't he pull me over so I at least knew who it was? If not, why would the guy give up so easily?

I called the police department after my additional half hour ride home, and the dispatcher would not give me any information.

"Is that standard protocol?"
"Each officer has his or her own discretion after assessing the situation."

"Can you tell me if Fairfax has an unmarked red Mustang?"
"We have too many cars to be able to tell you that."

"Can you at least tell me if there was an officer in that area at that time?"
"Do you know how many officers are out? I don't have any idea where anybody is."

The first answer I'll buy. But the other two? How can they not have a database of their cars or know who is on duty at the time and where they have been?

"Would you like me to send an officer out to speak with you?"
"And what's he going to tell me.. that he has no helpful information whatsoever, as you have just done?"
"Basically, yes."
"Don't bother."

Has anybody else here seen an unmarked red Mustang?

"Can you tell me if Fairfax has an unmarked red Mustang?"
"Sure, would you like names and pictures of our undecover cops too?"

"Can you at least tell me if there was an officer in that area at that time?"
"OK, give me just a second to determin who it was, they are required to update their location every 15 minutes, if they are on the road, at 7-11, taking a shit..."

If you were so worried and scared enough to pull into people's driveways, why didn't you call the cops then? Why wait after "additional half hour ride home"?

Havent seen a red one but i just saw a black one yesterday in the 7 corners area. NO markings AT ALL and the lights were LEDs integrated into the stock lamps. There was NO way to tell it was a cop until he lit them up - to the point that if it was I being followed by a car like that, i would be on the line with 911 telling them a car was lighting me up and could they verify it was a REAL cop.

Should've expected a complete asshole post.

There's a huge difference in asking to confirm one car and asking for a list of every single one.

There's also a huge difference in being able to tell if somebody is patrolling a general area versus having a GPS tracking device on their person.

This all took place in a span of 5 minutes. I was pulling my phone out the second time I stopped when he went on past and was gone. The extra half hour was because I got off 123 and took slow back way home.

I would have asked to speak to a supervisor that handles the area where this happened. He should have at least been able to tell you if this was an unmarked car or not.

There is a difference between unmarked and undercover. Unmarked can/will pull you over, undercover has no police markings and should never be involved in police "activity".

Wondering why you didnt see any of the back helicopters , they must have been in "stealth" mode

Har har larious. As if there's no difference between a car actively/obviously following you and a helicopter just circling around a general area.

Hey pissant, which part of 123 in FFX County is 55mph?

Also, the following statements are not congruent:

> I was scared out of my mind

And:

> I pulled into a neighborhood and up to somebody's
> house

> I crossed 123 and pulled into another person's

Comprende?

The entire length between the Occoquan bridge and Burke Lake park, genius.

It was probably some kids having fun. When I was 16, my friends and I used to do that when we were bored.

I don't know about unmarked cars, but they know exactly where every marked cruiser is at all times.

That hockey puck size white thing on the roof is part of the AVL (automated vehicle locator) system. It's a sort of GPS based tracking device, which also tracks the vehicle's speed at all times, as well as where it is.

Not that they would give some douche on the phone this information, but they do have it.

I doubt it was an unmarked officer. I can't see a cop taking the time to bounce from house to house. The moment you stopped he would have lit you up. I'm guessing you inadvertently pissed off some asshole and they decided to stalk you. If it were me I would have had to slam on my brakes suddenly for "some deer crossing the road". Or I would have done a sudden lane change and slammed on my brakes to get him ahead of me. I hate fucking assholes that tailgate.

I also doubt it was a cop, once they run your plates if nothing hits and you haven't committed anything they say they aren't going to waste time unless somehow you really pissed them off. Even so they would just pull you over for some mundane little infraction and wouldn't wait.

The FFX Co cars do have GPS and the cars go by seniority so the so the most senior patrol cops get their pick of equipment, so unmarkes are normally more experienced cops.

It could have been an off duty officer from any of the 10000 federal state and local agencies around here in his own car you pissed off.

To the OP: Are you a good-looking chick. If so, you'll get pulled over for almost anything a cop can find since they like looking down your blouse when you unbutton to get out of the ticket. Any cop will tell you this.

You are a crybaby bitch. So what if somebody screwed with you. I used to work in a 911 call center and we would get calls from bitches like you from time to time. We would play back the tapes of calls like yours to give the road cops a good laugh. Poor little mammas boy who wants to complain to the police that life is not perfect you.

I used to have a hottie working for me that bragged about getting out of tickets by unbuttoning and fluffing her tits before the officer approached her window. It was not a far stretch of the imagination to think she did such a thing since she dressed fairly provocatively in the office.

Why didn't you just slow down the second time instead of changing lanes? He'll just get frustrated and pass.

I drive with a 360 degree view recorded camera mounted to the roof of my car next to my dome lights...

They are 4 cameras facing each the front back and sides providing the 360 degree view...

All cameras are connected to a hard drive in my glove compartment that is programmed to record after a switch next to my volume control on my steering wheel.

I only activate them when I am feeling like unsafe drivers are around me ( HA! I should just activate it 24/7 since I'm in NoVA )

Catch the dirty cops. They. Are. Everywhere.

OK, it was me.

I'll get you later.

I picked you back up 3/4 mile later but didn't tailgate, and you didn't notice me. Easy to do at that time of night, not a lot of other cars to get misled by. Watched you turn down your street. Circled back and found where you parked.

My gawd. There was this 33 ford roadster on the road travelling at a fast clip and when I pulled alongside noticed it was a FX COUNTY Police officer. He did wink at me to let me know all was ok with my ride yet surprised the county is buying street rides to git the white man.

Do you think the County is buying these cars, or just using cars seized from drug dealers and other illegal activity?
