What ever happened to Young Dave Brown (YDB)? Of course he was with DC101 for years and various Washington stations after that. The last I heard from him he was doing the news on WTOP on Sat mornings.

Anymore. Now get on to something that has to do with the here and now. Unless you are gay then look up that new bar in Herndon. From what I have seen in the WP it is not posh but it is gay.
Why is that? Miami has the best gay clubs and I am not gay.

I only know this since I own property in Fl. the gays always pay on time too. Hmmm they may be taking over. Anderson Cooper, what a nice gay man and rich too.

I heard Dave Brown on the news one Sunday morning, he droped the "Young" from his moniker, but it was the same recognizable voice. I thought his delivery was strange for a news station, I always pictured him as some bonghead DJ, but he sounded as good as any other news guy.

Now where's Adam Smasher? If a local hack like Glenn Beck can rise to stardom, I think it's not unlikely that the Smash could get an MSNBC show or something.

Last time I heard YDB he was doing the newscasts on the Greaseman's show he was doing on a d.c. area am radio station but that's got to be at least 3+ years ago
meanwhile grease got canned at the am station started doing some work at a jacksonville fla. station from which he got canned in the last year

seems I heard YDB somewhere else in that timeframe but can't remember exactly

He's now Old David Brown.

Dave Brown took over Shadow Broadcasting in 2000 just before it merged with Metro, both of which did traffic, weather, and some news reports around DC. Shortly after he got the job, he summarily either fired or freaked out and pushed out most of the on-air staff, owing to his charming sense of management style.

Meanwhile, shortly after that, he began doing Saturday morning anchoring for WTOP NewsRadio in DC. Again, for a man who worked 60+ hours in a job where he prided himself to arrive before 4am daily, thus trying to shame the morning drive staff who'd arrive at 445a for their 5am shifts, he decided, no, that wasn't enough. So he took more good potential work out of the hands of the unemployed but talented DC broadcast market by taking on yet another shift at another station not included in the Shadow Broadcast contract. This, of course, somehow presented no conflict of interest, as he wasn't on air for Shadow so, y'know, he can be on air somewhere else.

So you either respect or detest someone who feels it necessary to work 80+ hrs a week while other, better-sounding and more erudite writer/reporter/anchors scrounge and even move from the DC area. One day, when he finds himself alone in a station, just him, a mic, and his hairpiece, then I'm sure he'll finally reach his nirvana.

For what it's worth... Happily, ran across Dave Brown's voice on WTOP news in the last year? Instantly, recognized his voice from DC 101 rock days with the Greaseman and Adam Smasher etc. Recall his past DC 101 gig where he always mentioned Friday as being "Date Night #1!"

I hear Dave Brown is retired and living in West Palm Beach and has found his nirvana!
