ADAMS Center

Passing by on my way toward Cascades from Herndon through the back road (Church Rd) that runs through Sterling. Notice they don't have police directing traffic when they let out their members. Any reason why the mega churches get assistance while they do not?

As a side note, I'm atheist and object to free public services to these institutions where they occupy tax-free land and other tax exemptions.

I'm pretty sure churches don't get that service for free. They pay the police to direct traffic for them.

I object to dumbasses picking on cops and who are worried that a religous organization might be getting free services from the government. The churches pay overtime to off duty officers to work the traffic control. It is no different than movie theaters and the like paying to have a cop in uniform working security. I would rather have cops working security than rent-a-cops! They are far better trained and much more experienced!! Friggin' idiot!! If there were a mulititude of accidents due to lack of traffic control, you would be the first person bitching about idiot cops who aren't concerned about the safety of drivers in that area.............

That's good to know.

So the ADAMS Center has a member directing the flow out of the parking lot rather than pay the police 2x pay. The mega-churches can afford to do so.

The only time I've seen cops directing traffic at a church, was during a funeral.

don't think he was picking on cops

he was, however, pointing out that churches and religions get unjustifiable advantages that no-one else gets - especially with planning and land use

close them all down and we wouldn't have the problem with traffic - simple

religion is a cancer on society (see 150,000 posts on the undead religion thread that some nutter brings back from the grave every few sundays) - its time has passed

If I was picking on cops, I would question whether the OT pay in question adds to the public's pension costs for the police. I thought they would be paid as off-duty police.

the police are there to handle the flow of traffic on a public roadway, which is a part of their duties. typically, the organization or church, anticipates a problem with vehicles exiting their parking lots and entering into the roadway. the police are their to ensure their safety. they are not paid OT for it and it is no different from directing traffic for schools or anything else.
