Duck eggs

Does anybody know where I can buy fresh duck eggs? I used to buy them at
a Chinese grocery store in Arlington but I'm hoping to find them closer
to Fairfax City. Any suggestions? (other than wise-quacks)

You might want to try either Whole Foods (the one off Fair Lakes Parkway, near West Ox Road) or Lotte supermarket in Chantilly.

Have you tried Super H on Fairfax Boulevard?

Any major Asian market will have them - just be careful not to get the salted duck eggs or the ones with the partial embryos

Yep, tried them and only chicken eggs. Thanks. Also to topchef: I haven't
tried Lotte yet but there's on near Fairfax Circle so I'll try there today
and Whole Foods tomorrow if no luck. I tried duck eggs for the first time
several years ago during a bad snowstorm and eggs and milk were sold out
at the Safeway. I went to the Chinese grocery at the corner of Columbia Pike
and Columbus St and they had duck eggs for .50 cents each and I bought four.
I told my wife and kids they were Chinese Chicken Surprise eggs and after everybody remarked about how delicious they were my daughter asked what the "Surprise" was. I said, "They aren't really chicken eggs." I thought she was going to kill me but I pointed out that until then she thought they were great
and had asked if we could get them again soon.

Nothing like a fried duck egg on top of a pile of pancakes. Yum! Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the advice. I'd like to try the salted variety just for curiosity
sake but don't think I could handle the embryos. :)

Hello,

I raise free range ducks in Shenandoah County. I sell duck eggs only. I can deliver to Herndon , Virginia for pick up there. I currently have 4 dozen fresh eggs ready to go! Please respond to max9@shentel.net $6.00 dozen

PER EGG? I pick these up occasionally at farmer's markets and while they're more expensive, they're nowhere near that. What're you doing with them? I like them and all but I tend to treat them like chicken eggs, albeit big ones. Not sure I'd drop a dollar each on them.

LOL! Years ago I had to make a business trip to Culpeper with my boss
and several others. A half dozen cows were in the roadway and the driver
stopped and the other guys went into a panic. I got out of the car and
chased them off the road. My boss said, "You're far braver than me.
I'd be afraid a mean bull would attack me." I told him there weren't any
bulls in the herd and he said, "How could you tell?" I laughed my ass
off. City people...oh yeah....

Check the shoreline for duck nests. Some might have fresh eggs!
