Virginia ASAP Question
Date: November 26, 2010 04:30AM

I got charged with a DUI in Fairfax County, and have to complete the Virginia Asap Program. I recently moved to Maryland, so I was referred to another treatment program up here. The treatment center is trying to put me in a 6 week program, then a 26 week after-care program, all at $70 a class. That's a lot of fucking bread. So what I was wondering is that, under my probation requirements, do I only have to complete the 20 hour program that is VASAP? Or am I fucked, and have to do what this treatment center is trying to do? Thanks.

Do what you need to do. $70 a class isn't that much to pay in the long run.
Imagine if your privilege to drive had been yanked. What would that cost you?

A lesson that I learned years ago; if you drink & could get charged for DUI, call a cab. The cost of a cab is cheaper than going through what you'll have to do now.

Why in the hell wont they let you take ASAP over the web? Its not like they care about anything but the money.
I have done asap four times and have met some good friends there.

Four times? Who are you Otis the town drunk? I will agree it is more about the money than anything else.

Volunteered to join ASAP prior to going to court for DWI. Met with P.O. and signed papers. There is a waitng list for two months. Can I drink until I start the class? There has been prior convictions so I am in the level two program.

They won't let you commute to the VASAP one in FFX? Or are you too far north in MD? It might be a pain in the ass, but worth your while.

I was transferred to another county in VA from ffx. i ran into a similar problem except they wanted to drug test me and i would have to pay for that. All my PO was able to tell me was that my case was transferred and i had to abide by what their regulations were because i had been transferred.

ASAP is basically try to get $$$ out of you...They tried to do the same thing to me. I told ASAP I did not have the time to do the counseling because of work and they sent me back to court for a judges ruling. In court I told the judge I had done all my ASAP classes and AA classes but could not finish the treatment option because I traveled a ton for work. He saw that I had not gotten into any trouble for the year of probation and dismissed the case. If I were you I would try that..the worst thing the judge will do is extend your probation and make you do treatment. At least this gives you a chance to get out of treatment that would cost a ton of $$$ and time. good luck

If you drink and drive you should not be forced to take the class. That is just stupid big government at its finest. You should be given the choice of the class or jumping from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Choice is great.

They keep increasing the punishment for DUI, yet people still do it.

Besides ratcheting up the punishment for DUI, what else could they do?
