Fairfax County Police SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)

Hi! Can someone please provide a copy of the Fairfax Police Standard Operating Procedures manual? I'd be very curious to see. I believe it is all public information. Thanks!

If its public then why don't you ask the Police Department for a copy. Or just use google.

Hours on google turned up nothing. Nothing at the local libraries either. It's one of those secret pieces of public information.

Go to your local police station and demand a copy!

Okay, here it is:

1) SHOOT FIRST AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER.

2) See number one.

3) See number one.

i am almost 100% certain it is not FOIA. i say this because there is a FOIA except for anything related to government employee safety and facility security. FCPD uses this FOIA exception to keep things like SOPs from the public. personally i agree with the PD completely. if you have an issue with the way the PD did something you need to make a report which will get taken care of by internal affairs.

Try looking for General Orders (GO's) instead of SOP's.

Another bump for the SOP. It's not a state secret so someone can just post it here Wikileaks-style right? Pretty please?

I checked my local (Chantilly) library and they don't have a copy of the SOP.

Found this other thread looking for the Fairfax Police SOP but no fruits either:
http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/7857/283122.html

This quote from that thread was real interesting though:
"Example, don't ticket drivers unless they're speeding in excess of 10mph. Seriously, check the ticket/arrest list; nobody has a ticket for less than 10 over "

Thanks all.

Judging from your past results at attempting to post an SOP, it doesn't look like many people that are privy to that info are posting here.

Besides, what benevolent purpose could there be in revealing it?

What benevolent purpose could there be in hiding it?

The police have to cite their SOP constantly in court proceedings (inventory searches come to mind) and must furnish a copy of that section to the court, so a good deal of the SOP is surely already in the public domain.

Why wouldn't any taxpayer and citizen want to see what the standard operating procedures for their police department are?

REF 352.2 F
County of Fairfax Police Department regulations and general orders
Fairfax County (Va.). Police Dept.

In Reference at every branch.

THis is NOT an SOP manual though - thats top secret.

Why the fuck would they publish or make available their SOP? Would they be interested in educating criminals in how the department handles various crimes?
