I hate speed bumps/humps. I pay road taxes so I expect free passage at the speed limit. If I can't, I'm going to honk my horn going over every one of those fuckers. If I can't have free right of passage, they won't have peace.

I have a speed bump in front of my house and have immature morons blowing their horns. I complained to the cops and guess what they did? With my permission, a couple of motormen sit in my garage ready for the next fool lay on their horn.

You see, that's disturbing the peace, and it is illegal. Obviously, they can't be there all the time, but the satisfaction of seeing the horn morons' faces when those Harleys come roaring out of my garage is priceless!

Well said. Then again, the speed bumps were put there for a reason - as you suggested. It's a main road, people refuse to honor the speed limit, so the bumps are installed. Sure, I don't like them. But, I understand why they're there.

I used to live in a townhome community and the speed bumps were threatened about 10 years ago, but they never passed at the time. I moved out of that area about 4 years ago. I passed through there a few weeks ago - there were new speed bumps installed. Clearly, the option of allowing the citizens to "police" their own driving and speed wasn't working, so some additional asphalt was utilized to bring things under control.

I doubt you can be charged with disturbing the peace since that usually only happens after 11pm in this county. You can be charged with improper use of an emergency signal though. Years ago a buddy of mine turned 21 and I drove him up to Safeway in Burke to buy his first case of beer, we got the beer and he hopped in the car with the case. As we were leaving the parking lot I was just laying on my horn and being loud due to it being my friends birthday. We didn't make it out of the parking lot before we were pulled over and given a warning about blowing the horn when there was no emergency situation, he asked if I had alcohol in the car and I said yes I do but its not mine and my buddy just turned 21(I was only 20 at the time), he laughed at us and let us go telling us to be careful and not to drive after drinking that case of beer.

The street is for cars to drive in. Kids should play in the yard, or, if you dont have one, the neighborhood playground. (If you dont have one of those either then you dont have to worry about me driving down your street since it is in the ghetto)

Here's the thing. Speed bumps are ugly and get uglier over time. I wouldn't buy a home if I saw speed bumps on the street. The roads around here aren't kept up like they should be and speed bumps don't ever seem to get repaired or updated.

Why anyone would want speed bumps on their streets is beyond me. IMO they don't make the roads any safer. People ignore them or just speed up after them. Waste of tax payer money and they are an eyesore. Plus, they delay the fire department and ambulances in emergencies.

How about speed bumps with nails or something to pop the tires? In my neighborhood people roar past my house (mainly Hispanic drivers). I mean these guys are moving so fast that they are a blur when they go by. Where are the police? They used to sit in my driveway and do radar (I gave them permission and even encouraged them to do it). Lots of kids in my neighborhood too.
