This was crazy! The police came from everywhere in police cars and undercover cars and SUVs. I was traveling west on Rt. 50 and I stopped at the Graham Rd. intersection because I could hear sirens coming from behind me and in front of me. Then several police cars sped up to and turned right in front of me. Then I could hear cars crashing behind. At first, I thought someone had hit me. Then, all of a sudden, I see this black Mercedes sedan come right past me heading west and all the police cars turn around and come back after him. Then I see two SUVs with their fenders hanging off all crashed up come right next to me. So then I proceeded through the intersection thinking they were long gone. They had the perpetrator spread eagle on the asphalt with SWAT team officers and their dogs. One officer came back and told us to cross the median and head east. So I did. I turned right into Loehmann's Plaza and u-turned on the service road to head west again. We finally got back going west on Rt. 50 and got to the stoplight at Jaguar Trail. When all of sudden, an ambulance, evidently with the perpetrator inside and with two police SUV escorts right behind, came flying by.

That was my commute. How was yours?!

I did not hear any shots fired at any point in the chase that I witnessed or after they apprehended him.

He was shot on Gramham Rd. and continued up the road. The cop was going to put out Stop Sticks.

Interesting...it seems strange that I would hear the two SUV crashes and not the shots fired.

I didn't know anything about stop sticks. I do know there was a cop hauling ass up the service road heading west just before the whole incident.

I get it now. He probably was shot before I ever got to Graham Road by the cop that sped by on the service road. Now, it makes more sense. Thanks.

The two crashes may have happened at the same time as the shots fired.

Does anyone know the make and model of the Mercedes? At least that is what they are saying the car is on the news.

It looked like a fairly new black sporty sedan Mercedes, but it was moving too fast for me to see what it was exactly. I'm guessing an E-series. It was all side-swiped along the left side.

There were 2 bullet holes clearly visible on passenger side window. Vic appears to be an out of shape white male, in his 40's.

He passed me on my right so I couldn't see his passenger side. So he had already been shot. Thanks for the info.

HEard on 103.5 they used spike strips and multiple FCPD cars were damaged.
Guy stole a Benz, got out of it while being pursued, was shot and got back in it.

Traffic a cluster.

So what. Guy was stealing cars, and stole a cop car. So he got a couple of bullets for his efforts. To hell with him.

I'm sure the WaPo will have you believe he was on his way to choir practice after saving 10 orphans from a fire when a drunk cop decided to light him up after he yielded to 5 nuns crossing the street.

How many police shootings is that this year in FFX? I'm pretty sure it's less than say, oh I don't know, off the top of my head New York, Chicago, LA, Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Philly, Boston, I can keep going all day if you need me to.

Sounds like he stole a police car too... That was a bad idea.

Note to car thieves and other thugs: Come to Fairfax to pull some GTA and you'll go to prison or go home in a box.

I had take-out from a restaurant in Loehman's Plaza and the cops had route 50 blocked off, except eastbound from east of Graham Road. I got off 50 early (it was a parking lot for miles) and used a side road to approach, but they wouldn't let me in the plaza to pick it up, and forced me back onto route 50 in the direction I came from. I called the restaurant and they had been wondering why nobody had seemed to come into the area for a while. Now we know why. This was at 8:00 PM.

I heard the whole thing going down while I was listening to the scanner.

One more nugget: One of the cops said over the radio that the suspect had been pepper sprayed AND tased. This was just a few minutes before he took two bullets.

Add on grand theft auto, assault of a police officer, felony evade, and likely a dozen other charges, and you have my "Donkey of the Week."

I think in this case the shooting was completely justified. He's driving around like a maniac during rush hour, and near a neighborhood. We're lucky they shot him before he ran over a little kid.

Kudos, good shooting.

Police Investigate Pursuit and Shooting
In Falls Church Area

McLean Police District – Police are conducting an investigation following events that took place this afternoon in the Falls Church area.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 2900 block of Westcott Street in Falls Church shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 4. Upon arrival at the incident an officer approached a man in a Mercedes that police had verified was a stolen vehicle. A physical altercation between the man and the officer took place, the man then fled through the nearby neighborhood. A second officer came to assist the initial officer and joined in the foot pursuit. The man was able to elude officers, running through yards and between homes, looping back toward where the officers had parked. He then got into one of the officers’ cruisers and fled. Officers pursued the man who ended up driving back to the Mercedes; exited the cruiser and jumped back into the Mercedes.

A second pursuit followed. Officers made several attempts to stop the Mercedes using their vehicles, but were unsuccessful. The pursuit continued down Graham Road where the driver encountered stop sticks that an officer had placed at Oakland Street in an attempt to bring the Mercedes to a stop. The driver avoided striking the stop sticks, turned his vehicle and headed back in the direction toward the officer. Shots were fired which struck the driver. The vehicle continued down Graham Road and turned westbound onto Route 50 where it came to a stop. Officers exited their vehicles. They rendered first aid and the man was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he remains in non life-threatening condition.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
