Well? [What was your vote number?]

What was your vote number?

At 8:05 this morning I was #87 in my vote line. No wait. Interestingly, a different letter group had 7 people waiting to check in.

I was given a choice of electronic v. paper voting. Voted paper.

edit by Cary: Added "[What was your vote number?]" to the subject line for list-page clarity.

I will vote this afternoon, since I have the quarterly parent/teacher conference this afternoon and the school is my polling place. In 2008 we were strictly electronic voting. I'll be curious to see if we have a choice this time.

When the volunteers are checking you out, I believe one of them states the sequential number in the log your verification is noted.

You may be right. Statistically speaking, there were probably some Jews who voted for Hitler back in the day. Look how that turned out for them?

#429 in my line at 5:30.
There are never lines at my location! Kinda sad that my fellow poor people (lots of appartments) don't get out to vote.

I agree. The last time I voted, Nixon was on the ballot. I had to give it up because they kept calling me for jury duty. I was, and am still self-employed and I simply cannot be at the County's beck and call.

I guess I'll be pissed if someday some motherfucker I can't stand wins by one vote.

But it really doesn't matter one way or the other, NONE of these bums can prevent the collapse of this stinking country. It's too far gone.

At my polling place, only the people who voted by paper ballot were told what number they were. I voted electronically, so I don't know how many voted before me. This is the first year they didn't have the last names split into groups. Things moved a lot faster.

Time: 3:45pm. Didn't get a number and was the only person in "line". Electronic voting only, took all of 3 minutes from the time I walked in the door and back out. That's what I'm talking about.

I went this afternoon. Not many there, but some old fart must have been writing the Gettysburg address. He was in a booth before and after I left.

I voted Scantron baby! Oooh yeah. I busted in right before closing time, because I couldn't find my ID for the longest time. I voted YES on all of the bonds and amendments, and of course I didn't vote for that asshole Moron.

How do you know what your "vote number" is?

At the time you "sign in" to the voting officials at your voting location, they note the consecutive number you are of voters that have been at their station. Note that this number is the number you are at THEIR station, not at all stations in the voting location (for example, voter #432 at the "Last Name Begins With A-G" station).

So I would have to ask? Don't care anywhere near that much.

Or simply listen to the two registrars talking to each other as they confirm/record the validity of your voting registration - that's what I did.

And the number is...like...totally useless information.

My station had computer check-in this year, rather than the books where 2 people took the information. I said my name, I said my address. They gave me a voting card. I never heard the number. Sort of disappointing. I like knowing about how many people have been there before me.

I've never heard a number before.

Also, yeah, they now use the computer database check-ins. They still have the paper list for back-up, though.
