Looking for a good beginner judo club. Specifically want it close to Centreville, Fair Lakes.

Anyone go to or know of one?

Check out Einstein Brothers Bagels. Best judo place in Fairfax. Not sure if there's one in C-ville or Fair Lakes, though.

That's pretty funny. However, I don't want anything to do with Nazi fuel. I want the martial art.

Hope this helps to not confuse the trolls.

I don't know of any directly, outside of doing a google search. Thanks for being a good sport.

Good luck.

The first thing you need to realize is that there are a lot of dojos out there that only care about pushing you through the belt ranks to quickly collect the extra fees you need to pay when you test for the next belt. The faster they push people through, the more turnover they have and the more money they make. The quality martial arts out there has really been watered down. If you can get a black belt in less than 4-5 years, then you don't "know" the art. Some of these TaeKwonDo places have 7 year olds who are black belts. 7 YEARS OLD! It's impossible.

You can "buy" a black belt if that's all you want, but if you're going to spend the amount of money it takes to be instructed, just take the extra time and really learn it. So you can whip some ass when it counts.

the best around is Sport Judo with coach Maurice Allan. Google the club and check it out.

+1

It's live those Krav Maga and MMA places that have sprung up all over the place. They don't truly teach anything, they just take as many members as possible to get money.

To my knowledge there are no straight judo clubs in Fairfax county. The closest thing is GW Judo Club.

If you can compromise then check out Fairfax Jiu Jitsu in Herndon. The school is under Yamasaki who have judo roots. Thus the school practices judo more than any other Jiu-Jitsu schools. They might also have a dedicated standup/judo class.
