cults are real, and they are hardly something to joke about. They control peoples lives, and ruin their souls for eternity. Cults are usually not distinguished with an open sign that they are a "cult" ... it is usually subtle, until its too late. Local cults include the "mormans, Jehovah witnesses, Scientology missions, Christian science, And Falun Gong, but also churchs that are less subtle like this one..

I worked with a guy who was taking down names of the dead to convert to Mormonism (baptism by proxy). I believe they hit up the descendants for a 10% tithe as that is an absolute requirement of their church

Art of Living seems to still be active in Alexandria, if you want to give $400 away and spend a few weekends doing exercises like being partnered with someone to inanely ask "Who are you?" back and forth. And you learn secret yogic breathing techniques that you can probably get for free on YouTube. And you get exercises like having to tell about a difficult person in yr life and if it sets off a crying jag for you, no prob, you can sit on the floor and cry while the others wait you out and chat amongst themselves in Bengali or whatever.
