Is there really that much of an array of ethnic food in Centreville? I think there's more individuals there that are probably "sponging" off of society in order to survive on a day-to-day basis as opposed to someone who's capitalistic and starting businesses to create a good job base and community growth.

Just my perspective as I lived there almost 15 years and watched the area go from great to mediocre quite quickly. Fortunately, I was able to sell at the height of the housing price boom a bit over 4 years ago to cash in and head out of town.

Yea you're right about the driving and the trash. I almost got sideswiped by an asian yesterday trying to take an exit at the last second. I kept calm and didn't even anger, like it was to be expected.

And as for "some" of the spanish or anyone else who shows disrespect by scoping out or groping my woman could lead to bodies being found in a wooded area.

After 24 years it was time to exit Alexandria/Bailey's XRoads. Go west and you hit the creepy Culmore bodega-ville. Go east and hit the uber-creepy Mt. Vernon Avenue bodega. Oh - lot's of quaint ethnic restaurants in both areas, if you don't mind shooing away eight vatos leaning on your car when you exit the restaurant.

Yeah, but that area has one great thing going for it - The Peking Duck restaurant. Though, it's probably much better to live somewhere else and just spend the time driving to the restaurant once or twice a year to enjoy the food.

When did you last drive down St. Germaine? Lots of day laborers line up by the library and in front of the old Chevy Chase Bank branch, across from the Giant. The shopping center put up a metal fence along the sidewalk to keep them off the grass and away from the bank. The library planted lots of shrubs to keep the on the sidewalk.

Work and legitimate work are two different things. If the work is legitimate, then the worker is paying taxes on his/her income. If it's not legitimate, then taxes are not being paid. There's also the issue of day labor. I'm making an assumption that most of these individuals are working for cash, thus no tax revenue is being generated. Also, there's the possibility that when the person who hired the day laborers drops them off at the end of the day, the guy drives off without paying them. The laborers can't complain because they're here illegally and if they call the police, what would they be able to say?

There are two legitimate answers to this question.

1) Centreville is home to a lot of Mexicans because the old apartment complex across from the library provided cheap housing for them. It was like a magnet, and drew them in by the 100s. The apartment complex has since been demolished and new condominiums are being built on the site. Also, when the apartment complex was still in operation, the Fairfax County Police had a satellite office set up in one of the apartments to deal with all the crime issues that were surfacing.

2) Now, Centreville is home to a lot of Korean families because apparently, there are advertisements in Korea describing how Centreville is a great place to live, etc. Needless to say, Koreans coming to America see this propoganda and not knowing where to go when they get here follow what they've read.

The Asians are drawn to Westfield High School, where their children can grow up to be murderers. The beaners are drawn to Westfield High School where their children can grow up to be heroin addicts.
