Camping around NoVA

Hi all,
Im looking for a place to camp around NoVA and possibly do some swimming in a lake. I dont want to go to a state park though, because their rules on drinking and such are pretty stingy. A bathroom and shower would also be nice. Anyone know a privately run park around here?

if you dont mind the drive to front royal try low water bridge campground, no lake, but it located off of a nice river.

Drive out ot Gore about an hour away and camp at the Cove.

The cove is probably your best bet though if you are looking for more of a party spot. Huge spaces, they normally separate groups away from families.. no issues with noise late at night.

I've heard good things about Point Lookout in MD. It's a bit more of a drive than the cove though, and a state park.

Point Lookout is a pretty cool place, I went hiking down there bad in the spring. It's out in the middle of nowhere and you're surrounded by water. I never camped there, but they do have campsites. I really like that park, it's sorta eerie and peaceful.

I didn't even know there were spots in NoVA. I used to go to GWNF in Harrisonburg.
