Why cant there be a Sonic near the Fairfax or surrounding areas, instead of woodbridge or further away

I think Winchester has the only Sonic that is nearby. Manassas/Woodbridge has Checkers and a hell of a lot of Sheetz.

I've heard that it takes around $1,000,000 to get a franchise. Don't know if it's true.

I actually think it cost a little more than that. I looked into it one time.

There is a Sonic in Winchester and Fredericksburg. I was just at the Winchester Sonic last weekend. I go out there at least a couple times a month. So good!!

I've been to Sonic in Hampton Roads and in Massachusetts (they just opened there recently). I get quite sick, every time. After about 10 tries, I've given up on Sonic.

This plays into a much larger problem in the D.C. area: the general monopoly of McDonalds, Wendy's and Burger Kings (to a lesser extent Popeyes, Taco Bell, KFC) as far as fast food establishments (And chains missing like Buffalo Wild Wings). Why advertise Sonic, BWW's' and Jack in the Boxes if the nearest branches are in Fredericksburg?

I don't know if there is a Jack in the Box that is east of the Mississippi River - perhaps in Illinois. Certainly none on the east coast proper.

There are lots of BW3 - there is at least one in Dulles and another in Manassas.

The closest one is North Carolina - 4-5 hour drive I believe.

Correction - Sterling, not Dulles

We can have one, someone just has to cough up the 1 million dollars, or however much it cost. On Sonic's website, it says that they are looking to open a restaurant in the DC area. You got the dough?

It's too expensive to start up businesses in FXCO and there isn't much available land. Sonics are pretty large and usually offer lots of on site parking. The strip shopping centers around here are predictable. No matter what area of FXCO you're in each shopping center is basically the same.

What would own here in Fairfax County:

A wawa with a sonic attached AND a drive-thru ABC store. Kills 3 birds with one stone. :)

This is the Million Dollar QUESTION! Between Checkers and Sonics, I don't know why Fairfax lacks them. The closest Checkers is a PITA drive in Manassas, while the only Sonics I've ever been to was in Newport News (It made us all sick too).

There are many jack in the box's on the east coast. If you all want a fast food vacation, check out Charlotte, NC. They have the usuals that you find in Fairfax, plus Cook Out, Bojangles, Jack in the Box, Sonic, and on and on.

The Charlotte area also has a fast food chain called Biscuitville. I ate at one a few months ago. Driving down the road, we saw a Biscuitville with a large sign proclaiming "FRIED BOLOGNA IS BACK!". We immediately decided we just had to eat there. It was pretty decent for a fast food breakfast (although I did not try the FRIED BOLOGNA).

Was it the Biscuitville outside Charlotte next to a Starbucks? I wandered in there a few years ago, just to wonder at the menu. Biscuit-everything. I imagine they keep the lard producers of NC very busy. I got my Starbucks next door without ever trying that crap.

I don't really know the area well but I think we were in the 'burbs somewhere, and I know there are a few Biscuitvilles around. Their oatmeal came with honey and fruit and was pretty good, so were the hashbrown, and the biscuit was decent. Your lard comment is probably correct, the place was filled with fat rednecks who looked like they ate there 4 or 5 times a week.

Agree that it's cruel to make us watch delicious looking Sonic ads on TV when you'd have to drive an hour or more to get to one. There also are not enough Taco Bells in this area. I get the sense that Fairfax Co. (and more so, the city) sort of discourages drive thru fast food operations.

I want to see a handful of Taco JOHNS in the area. They beat the hell out of Taco Bell with their ala carte Tater Tots, apple pie pizza, etc.

Checkers is a nice change from McDees and BK. Love their spicy chicken sandwich.
