yo heres a question. my comp (a falcon northwest laptop) has a single hard drive in a raid 0 array. It got corrupted. Can you get my data off it. Oh and the IDE controller is broken on the motherboard, and falcon doesnt carry that mb anymore. So you can use anything on a cd (i.e. windows repair console) to help it.


BTW i never figured out why there was only one hd in there. they sent me the 2nd one later but i never put it in.

i lost a laptop HD one time... man was i pissed... earlier that year i had taken some pictures (very... risqué) on my cell.. which got deleted by a bitch (who i later saw on girls gone wild), but i had them on the laptop.. never recovered :(

i tried spinrite, and other tools.. sad times :(

spinrite isnt designed to recover corrupted data but rather something like someone formatting the whole hard drive. in anycase, recovering jpegs is super simple and there are a million tools out there for recovering files. what you really wanted is not to restore your corrupted disk but rip all the raw data you could off of it. there are magical things called magic numbers that identify a type of file. well... i guess that's a hard lesson in backups... as well as using windows.

if your drive is too corrupted to read, there are tools that will attempt to correct it. however, in my experience those dont work often. if that fails, you can use a recovery tools that will find all the files and recover them. the catch being that they will not retain the file names, so you will have to sort them out by hand. private message me if you need more help.

that was my plan... actually.. i was gonna get an adapter to hook up the smaller HDD to my PC... time was limitted because dell had already sent the replacement... topped with my laziness.. i just gave up.. I got very vivid pictures stored in my head, so its all good i guess :)
