I was driving from Tysons towards the GW Pkwy yesterday. Got thirsty
so I stopped at the Exxon at the intersection of Old Dominion Dr and
Chain Bridge Rd in downtown McLean. This was around 5:20PM

There was a crazy dude drving a dark metallic blue Mercedes SL500 (R129 chassis)
with the top down. I estimate his speed to be at least 60 to 70 mph. The
intersection was quite busy at the time and a lot of people turned and looked.
I didn't get the plate number because it went past me too quickly...

The driver must be:

(1) crazy
(2) stupid
(3) begging for a reckless driving ticket
(4) running from the law
(5) late for dinner date
(6) cruise control stuck at 70mph
(7) all of the above

I've seen that guy in traffic, black dude, right?

Come to think of it, the only people who see me drive up in my

I disagree. The vast majority of people I see driving huge SUVs are men...who are ALONE in the vehicle. And they many times are slumped down with one hand on the wheel like they think they're the shit. I strongly believe this is a cover-up of their lack of manhood. Where are they're girlfriends? wives? I'm guessing these men are single and looking. I also see dumb soccer moms driving SUVs, This is probably because they're small-penised husbands must make up for their small penises by buying them SUVs to drive around in. (Having a small penis doesn't always mean one couldn't make a lot of money) Why buy an SUV with 7 passenger seating if you only fill one seat? The answer? Small penises. I am happy with my 4 door Honda, as well as my penis, and my girlfriend is happy with both. She doesn't mind riding shotgun in my Honda, because my penis didn't shrink when I bought it. I will never need more than 4 seats in my vehicle. Most girls aren't as dumb as the girls you've spoken to, Jester. Although small cars can very well mean a gay guy at the wheel. Why are Miatas considered chick cars? How many Miatas have you seen that were being driven by a woman? All the Miatas I've seen are driven by men.

I'd lump the Miata in chick car category as well. Looks striking similar to a VW cabrio or golf convertible.

If you want a real roadster, go Boxster, Z4, TT, or even though I hate Japanese cars, the S2000 doesn't look all that bad. Only problem with the Z4 and TT is that alot more chicks drive 'em. There was a recent Forbes article on the top-10 cars women drive and the Z4 had 93% women as primary drivers.

Looks like someone's selling a Miata this weekend. LOL. -§

Someone who drives a Miata probably actually knows something about driving cars and has it because it handles. It's not a high-end car such as a Porsche, but most cars aren't. It's too small to be a person's only car but it's a good second car. I guess it's not a "showoff" car but some people get a car to drive it.

How about this? Most women see no correlation between the size of a man's automobile and the size of their penis. However, they may still assume that a man driving an obscenely large SUV is a big dick because:

They swerve into your lane every time the road curves or they need to make a turn
They can't fit their SUV into one parking space but aren't considerate enough to park further out
They stick so far out of the parking space that it makes it dangerous for the cars next to them to back out
Despite the fact that they claim the height of the SUV helps them see better, they stick out into the intersection so no one can see around them
They try to use their size to intimidate other drivers, even when said drivers are driving the speed limit in the right lane

Oh and I'm not sexist - women are guilty of the above offences as well. I just give them a different name.

these types of problems can all be resolved with ease by carrying grenades and using them at will.

God bless you...for putting into kind words my biggest annoyance EVER. If you don't have a family of 7 full sized adults...don't buy an SUV!!! if you aren't a fucking construction worker...don't buy a pickup truck!!! retards....

People complain about SUV's blocking their view on the road...let me think for a minute here...oh yeah, you could change lanes and pass them. Another thing, dump trucks, tractor trailers also block your view if they are in front of you. I dont hear people complain about those.

The Dump Trucks and Tractor Trailers are part of the job for those drivers. Like a school bus or a trash truck. These vehicles are some of the "tools of the trade" for the operators. Not every SUV driver *needs* their SUV for their work.

So if i don't "need" one i shouldn't have one. Ok....if i'm don't need to drive fast, why should i get a sports car? Who cares what you are driving, if you want to buy it and drive it go ahead, isn't that YOUR right?
Personally i think harley's are too loud and annoying. Can we critisize those? of course not, is you right to idle that shit next to everyone at the red light and hit the throttle and get them even louder. But nobody complains about them

I have an SUV and I don't need it for work, but it's nice to know that when it snows or we have poor road conditions, that I can navigate the roads as if there is no obstructions. It also comes in handy whenever I volunteer to take doctors and nurses to the hospital when they cannot drive in such conditions. It's built for comfort, not for speed. I do, however, put more mileage on my car in the summer months, mostly for fuel consumption reasons. -§

I drive an SUV because I was tired of the minivan. I like to be the parent that can drive a car full of teenagers when they need a ride to or from school events, practice, movies, etc. If parents can't take them, they end up getting rides with other high schoolers - often violating the rule about having one passenger outside the family per car. I try to reduce the number of times they are passengers with new drivers. Also, some of my neighbors and friends drink substantially in the evenings and I don't want them driving my kids (or anybody else's) home. It's surprising how many kids will suddenly need a ride when you only thought you were picking up two or three. Maybe the kids would rather not be a passenger with an adult that's been drinking.

I'm so sick of these gay Miata's and whiney little rice burner owners. If more people had common sense they would be buying utility type vehicles like pickup trucks or SUV's.

I'm so sick of having to drive these whiney little "economy car" people and their kids around because I have an SUV and everybody "can fit in my vehicle." When it snows I'm stuck driving... Why? because God forbid the "compact economy car" people might even think about driving in an inch of snow.

They want something from Home Depot that's too big for their car... guess who has to volunteer his SUV... ME!

My sister drives a turbo new beetle and has NO problem driving in the snow. She drove from Ohio to Va in that blizzard we had a few years back in it.

I drove on I70 between Breezewood and I81 in a major snowstorm a few years back..in a 1997 Ford Escort.

I couldn't go faster than about 35MPH but neither was anyone else on the road, not even the SUV drivers.

I'm not really sure what makes SUVs so great for driving in the snow. I hear SUV drivers saying they had to put it in 4WD to drive in the snow, but almost all of them are RWD when the 4WD mode isn't engaged..and we all know how much RWD vehicles suck in the snow..don't we? I've seen more than a few RWD, non 4WD SUVs spinning tires in the snow. Maybe if it was FWD in the first place 4WD wouldn't be needed to go anywhere in the snow.

On the rare occasion that we have significant snow fall, the plows usually can't keep up. In that case, an SUV would have the advantage of a higher clearance.

However, I'm concerned that many SUV drivers are over confident in their vehicle when driving in snowy conditions. The last time I drove during any significant snow fall, I saw two SUVs lose control.

None of my relatives in Ottawa drive an SUV and they receive a lot more snow and ice than we do. In fact, I've observed that in general SUVs are much less common there. That being said, they do put snow tires on their car in the winter... I'm sure that helps.

Anyways...I've driven my Honda through a snowstorm in Vermont. I've used it in Maine in the dead of winter. I've used it in Boston in February. And in every New England state. And the folks up there are smart, and use something called "snow tires" But tards down here think the solution is a bigger car. Uh...no. SUVs aren't made for snow. They are probably harder to control. People don't complain about motorcycles because they are FUN. But yes when people rev them at stoplights, that's annoying. An SUV is great for taking kids around, but a minvan is a better choice for that. Soccer moms have the only excuse.

What was wrong with the minivan? It should be able to carry as many people as an SUV, and be safer and more efficient.

Anybody who is thinking of getting an SUV or any 4WD or AWD should remember that the drive system only helps you go, not turn or stop. An extra set of steel wheels with snow tires will work better in the snow than an AWD with regular tires. Also it will probably be cheaper to maintain in the long run. (although in this area, you will end up mostly using the winter tires on pavement so they will wear down fast. Still better than a complex AWD system in my book.)

I drive a Land Rover because I believe one day, all of Fairfax County will be underwater, 20 inches to be exact, and I'll have the fording ability to coast right by all the Ford Escorts, Miatas and Hondas like GI Joe in a hovercraft.

Don't get me started on all the downed trees, power lines and boulders, especially around Tysons Corner, which I can readily avert with my impressive Terrain-Response system and air suspension. *Sigh* The best 4x4xFAR. -§
