Movie Ticket Prices?
Posted by: Qwest ()

I haven't been to a movie in 15 years. I thinking about going to see Wall Street Money Never Sleeps.

What is the prices these days? Any deals like half price midday tickets? Any other viewing suggestions?

Tysons Corner is 11.50 regular price and 9.50 matinee. They have a good deal on morning movies, 6 bucks for shows starting before noon. Not all movies will have an AM show though.

Thanks, I found a link to the Tysons shows that had ticket prices and times. 9:20am and 10:30am shows are $6 for Wall Street. Even on the Sat and Sun. I might have to do that.

Thanks Meeper.

might want to check rottentomatoes.com before Wall Street. Trust me, huge fan of the first. But I'm not certain this is a must see in the theaters (just my opinion)

"The Town" (directed by Ben Affleck, yup) is the movie to see right now..

Shia Le Douche is going to do to Wall Street what he did to Indiana Jones..mark my words.

Go get an Entertainment Book.

The coupons get you into many theaters for $6.00 or $7.50. You'll have to wait 7 to 10 days on first run films though.

I actually like that requirement - less people. I've never understood being at a highly anticipated movie on opening weekend. It's not like the movies change from one week to the next. Yeah, maybe you overhear some talk here and there, but if you're really intent upon seeing it, you'll go anyway.

For real, I can't even remember the last movie that I saw on opening weekend. Why suffer the fools? People who talk in outdoor voices, use their phones, leave their bluetooths blinking on their ears, or just piss around in general. Granted, it's okay at like the Arlington Drafthouse or something similar. But at an actual theater? Man, I paid an exorbitant amount to see and hear the movie, not see you update your myfacespacebook page and hear about how you better call Tyrone, so STFU and STFD as well.

I usually wait a couple weeks, even three. Although, it did backfire on me for Scott Pilgrim. By the time I planned on seeing it, it was out of theaters, at least any nearby.

The reasons listed above(annoying people) are the main reason I haven't been in years.

I figure a morning show will eliminate the kids and be cheaper. I am assuming I'll have to shell out $30 for two sodas and popcorn for my date and I.

Are screens at Tysons little post it size screens? The seats still as uncomfortable as 15 years ago and my feet will stick to the floor.

Tysons has really big screens and very comfortable, roomy seats. It's the best theater in the county, IMO.

I go to the AM shows occasionally. It's never crowded and I've never had a problem with noisy people in there. It's sorta nice hopping out of bed, catching a movie before noon, and then having the whole rest of your Saturday to do stuff.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm not laughing at you, just at the memory of what the Tysons theaters used to be like. The newish AMC theater is nice as shit. Massive screens, excellent use of stadium seating, rocking velour seats, etc.

Sorry about the sticky floor...I just came.

Bring your first-born child to trade for snacks. You can use an arm and a leg, too, but you have to saw them off yourself.

Holy crap, they never stop raising the prices. I remember back in 2003, when that brand new, fancy Fair Oaks movie theater first opened up, and it charged around $11.00 per ticket. I thought the price-tag was insane beyond belief, especially seeing how an average ticket was between $8.00-$9.00 max. Then, when I went to see Avatar last Winter, it was $14.00 for that, but I at least understood why (3-D glasses). Before you know it, tickets will be $20 a pop.

I remember them too. What's in place of them now?

The ones I'm thinking of used to be on the 123 side of Tysons, facing La Madeleine... I used to call those the rape theaters, it was tiny with narrow hallways and burgundy plastic wallpaper. One would half expect Jareth the Goblin King to come out of a wall and abscond with a small child.

I'm not sure what's there now, I haven't been on that side of Tysons for yeeeeears, since like the Rainforest Cafe days.

There's a Thai restaurant and a small food court over on that side of the mall. Bistro 123 used to occupy space there, but that closed, and there was also some awful Mexican restaurant there that I can't remember the name of.

Those theaters must have closed long ago, I've be been living in Tysons for almost
14 years and they definitely weren't there back them.

Definitely closed ages ago, I'm guessing in the late-80s or even early 90s.

I think the new Michael Douglas film will be a waste of money to see. The plot sounds really lame and dry.

Yeah, Oliver Stone has been going down hill for some time now and Michael Douglas has had one too many face lifts.

You can still get away with that. Go try it sometime. I'm sure you'll be back a week or so later whining about getting caught and needing suggestions for a lawyer.

I was kidding. That's a kid thing and I hate kids. I read the obits the day after prom night for laughs.

There were some other theaters at the mall in the earliest days, and they were not able to rent out the space for so long that they now have baseball batting cages there, that they open up to the local Little Leagues (McLean, Great Falls, Vienna) for little or no cost, as a community service/outreach effort.
