Immigration
Combs proposes bill on illegals
Among other things, the bill requires regulation of public ID documents.

HAMILTON — State Rep. Courtney Combs and Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones are throwing their support behind an immigration bill they hope will succeed where the federal government failed.

During a joint press conference Friday afternoon, the two outlined a bill that Combs will introduce in the Statehouse in September.

"This is a bill that, as a sheriff, I can live with," Jones said. He is vocal both locally and nationally about the need for the country to close its borders and toughen laws to address illegal immigration.

The bill would require: regulation of public identification documents; a reasonable effort by correctional institutions to determine the citizenship of inmates; public employers to register and participate in a status verification system for the work eligibility of all new employees; contracting businesses to withhold state income taxes at the top marginal rate from any individual independent contractor who fails to verify work eligibility status; public agencies to verify that individuals who apply for certain public benefits are United States citizens or qualified aliens and prohibit employers from discharging citizen employees in favor of aliens.

In addition, Combs said letters have been sent to counties throughout the state seeking cost estimates in dealing with illegal immigration issues in their areas.

"We are asking them to tell us what it is costing them," Combs said. "We are going to ask the federal government to reimburse that cost.

Combs said that State Sen. Gary Cates has a bill that is "like and similar" and is expected to be introduced in the senate, and the Democrats are also working on a version.

Sure, our government supports the flagrant oligopoly of Mexico that keeps poor people poor and six families extremely wealthy. We flaunt our superior way of life via television shows, we don't punish companies for hiring illegals, we have plenty of jobs for them that provide no benefits like farm work, slaughter houses, nannies, handymen, or house cleaners, and we give their employers breaks by providing free emergency room visits, and we wonder why they come? Punish those that took the bait for a better life; don't punish those who tempted the ones to come over in the first place.

EXACTLY! Illegal immigration could be stopped YESTERDAY....but the fat cat Repugnican campaign contributors want that cheap labor....never mind the fact that ordinary folks like you and me have to pick up the tab for the illegal's health care, education of their spawn...and watch our communities be destroyed.

It's the same shit as slavery....fat cats looking for a free ride....but in the long run, there ain't no free ride.

Fat Cat Republicans must share equal blame with the "feel sorry for everybody"
attitude of shit for brains liberal Democrats. Us common folks are caught in the
middle. NOVA politicians of both parties seem to think illegals are actually
good for us and the "commoners" have no idea whats best for them. Screw them all.
Devolites and Moran need to be deported too.

Slimey

It seems as though NoVa politicians are all just after the mighty dollar and it doesn't matter whether they are fat bloated elephants or jackasses. I think its time for a change as far as government goes before NoVa gets turned into little mehiko or commiefornia. I think what we need is either some divine intervention or some decent candidates that havnt sold their souls. Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever see decent people in government again.

Does this Ohio law apply to Fairfax County in some way I didn't pick up from the article?

All these local anti-beaner oerdinances are bad, bad, bad! Especially the ones in PWC and Loudoun.

All they're going to accomplish is to chase 'em into Fairfax County!

Perhaps I should have elaborated at the beginning. I apologize for not being
more descriptive. I have family interests in Butler County, Ohio and follow local
issues closely. Butler County is going through aches and pains with illegal
immigation too and I wanted to share this so Fairfax residents could see how
localities outside of the NoVa area deal with the issue. They have a Sheriff
there, Richard K. Jones, who is a local hero due to his very aggressive approach.
Ill be posting about him in the future. We need this kind of Sheriff here in
Fairfax too.
