Do any of you know what became of the middle-aged, disoriented, woman walking in Ox Rd (Rt. 123) in the morning of July 5th? She was walking against traffic--but IN traffic--between the right straight lane and the right turn lane. I (and apparently others) called 911, but did not follow up later. Hope she got help. This was between Rt. 7100 and Little Ox Rd/Chapel Rd.

I do not know that woman but lately I have been seeing more and more homeless people in Fairfax City area. I work at a gym and this homeless man came in and asked to use the bathroom. I told him that it was a private club and the bathrooms were not available to the public. He got mad at me and asked me which car was mine. He said he was going to pee on it. I sort of got scared but he left. By the way, where DO homeless people go to the bathroom and take a shower?

Homeless people don't shower, and they go to the bathroom in Shoppers food warehouse in the Picket shopping center.

in response to the showering question..they go to shelters..most go to the Lamb Center, which is a day shelter where they can shower, eat, etc.

To Dirty Jersey: She wore black pants, a dark sleeveless top, pretty well dressed. I do not recall any white clothing. She had shoulder-length brownish-reddish (dyed?) hair. She was walking as though in a trance. She did not look like a homeless person; in fact, she looked as though she could have lived in one of the pricey neighborhoods in that area.

PTG, what happened when you stopped to help her?

I regret to say that I did not stop. I called 911 as soon as I saw her, which was as the light was turning green. I was first in the left lane, and had small kids in my car. The second fact, at least, I rationalized, was reason enough. A couple of cars in the right lane pulled over, presumably to help her. This is one of those situations that I revisit often, partly because I wonder if she is okay, partly because I might have been able to do more.
