I never understood why Ballard was on a drive shift to begin with. He sounds like an overnight guy from Omaha. As for Elliot, I guess he did what all good "shock jocks" do. He put Ballard on the air after his firing. I'm sure Clear Channel will put him on hiatus for a few days (or weeks) after that stunt.
