Redskins' Trent Williams faces reckless driving charge

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 18, 2010 6:27 PM ET
Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams, the fourth overall pick in this year's draft, is facing a reckless driving charge in connection with a June incident that escaped attention at the time.

Williams was pulled over in Fairfax County at 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, June 6 and ticketed for going 90 miles an hour in a 55 zone, the Washington Post reports.

Williams' lawyer, Mark R. Dycio, said Williams "looks forward to his day in court."

Williams' day in court will take place next week. If convicted Williams would likely have his license suspended for six months.

He looks forward to his day in court? Like he was wrongly accused of going 90 in a 55? Is he like the traffic court version of Dr. Kimball?

You would think reporters would have some responsibility to get the facts correct. Try he faces up to 1 year in jail, a $2,500 fine and a year suspension on his license.

They are too busy reporting whether or not it was the heat that made Albert Haynesworth dehydrated.

I'm pretty sure the bastion of news reporting that the Washington Compost is misquoted his lawyer. The only people that look forward to their day in court are lawyers because they're making ridiculous change.
