Clay pigeons are only doing the jobs real pigeons don't want to do.

Just because they are defenseless doesn't give you the right shoot them.

I always go to Bull Run. It's only $5 to shoot a round of trap or skeet (25 clays). They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays though.

If you're willing to drive, there's Shady Grove in Remington - decent 5-stand and a good sporting clays course.

I have two shotguns, one's an over-under (I can't recall the model), the other is a double-barrel 1889 Remington. I'd love to try them out for once. I need some bp ammo for the latter though.

I've got a Browning Gold Hunter with a 3.5" chamber. I actually just finished cleaning it a few minutes ago.

It's hard to find an affordable double barrel, Stoeger makes some coach guns for around $400, but the quality is kinda iffy.

Able Ammo is selling some "premium" double barrels. I had no fucking idea that Beretta made $14,000 shotguns.

I use a Beretta AL391 gold, for skeet and pheasant hunting.

I second the Bull Run shooting center, it is a very well run place and inexpensive. I shoot there often.

Maybe it's because I went there so much when I was young but I like Clark Bros. in Warrenton - you have to buy ammo and clays from them though. I don't mind because the prices aren't bad.

We forgive you. I'm sure you were in shock that people actually replied to a thread with some useful information on Fairfax Underground.

There are plenty of libs that have no problems with guns.

They're reliable, but they aren't made to last very long. After about 10k rounds, you need to start looking for a new shotgun.

$500 can get you a lot since a Mossberg 500 starts around $250 and a Remington 870 starts around $300. Benelli makes a really high quality pump starting around $350-$400.

I'd say all those are fine for the job and I'd throw in the Winchester
1500. You can find all sorts of after-market accessories for them and
finding a gunsmith to work on them is no problem. I once read an article
that offered some good advice. Don't use an expensive collectors item for
a home defense gun. If you should happen to use it, the cops will still
take it in as evidence and it might be a while before you get it back.

Yes, this. I bought a nice, used Mossberg 500 from a pawn shop for $180.
