Cops Commit Armed Robbery

Tonight at the annual Juanapalooza fundraiser in Centreville, Fairfax County PD and ABC shut down the fundraiser and confiscated $5,000 that was going to be donated to Children's Hospital. Looks like a new pin ball machine in the FCPD breakroom in lieu of a child's health.

I just tried to get back into my neighborhood off of Pickwick Rd. Cops had the fucking road blocked off, there were about 60 of them (cops) hanging around looking useless, doing nothing, acting like it was a big joke.
I had to double back around Lee Hwy just to get home. When I walked up the street to find out WTF was going on some guys told me there was a house party and the cops were there to make sure it was going to be fucked up, mission accomplished.

The kids there seemed well behaved, not too intoxicated and the cops were definitely ruining someone's event plus clogging up the neighborhood roads unnecessarily. these assholes need to be out policing the roads and other areas where crimes are happening NOT hanging around a decent single family home neighborhood in a somewhat affluent part of Centreville. These motherfuckers even have their helicopters out for this one (courtesy of our tax dollars), making a hell of a lot more noise than the party. I'm sure there are robberies, rapes and worse going on right down the road in Londontown, nice going Fx Co Losers!

I am a homeowner and I am pissed. Let the kids a fucking party, it's goddam Saturday night! They need it, they deserve it, they're (probably) going back to school in a couple weeks and we certainly did the same and worse. I can see a couple cruisers patrolling the area but this shit is insane, it's like all of the cops from Sully Station are here ...FOR NOTHING.

It's fucking almost 1 AM and all I can hear is goddam helicopters, fuck you pigs, you make me sick!

Next time, have the party at your place and keep it under control.

Thank your fucking neighbors.....they are the ones who called the po-po. Probably several times and who knows what they told them.

"The kids there seemed well behaved, not too intoxicated"

I sincerely hope one of those "not too intoxicated" kids smashes a car into your house, preferably where you are sitting.

Did they make any sort of allegation regarding whether a law of the Commonwealth may have been violated? Just wondering....

ABC came and asked how much for a drink. Instead of saying it was a $20 donation and drinks were free they said $20 and you can drink as much as you like so they said that was illegal without a permit and confiscated everything. There were no fights, no destruction, no crimes. It was a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital. It's one thing to shut down the party, it's another to steal all the money to be donated. Everyone was taking cabs most people weren't even driving so, thanks for ruining the night FCPD

SKINS didnt you just say that ABC came in and "confiscated everything"? Well then shouldnt you be pissed at them? They closed the party down, they took the money. They just needed FCPD for back-up because there are only about 15 of them in NOVA total. Be sure to direct your anger in the right direction ass-clown.

It was a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital. "

One the troubles with "fundraisers" is unless some rep from the hospital is there to oversee it how do you know where the money is going? My experience with these is the person doing the promoting/hosting will siphon off "expenses" to himself sometimes at 50% or more of the total take.

I am not saying that is what was happening here but it has happened. That is why in my dealing with fundraisers someone watches the money to see it gets where it is supposed to go.

BTW when you post an event like this on the internet advertising alcohol and your "rules and regulations" section is limited to "no fighting" what did you think was going to happen? It appers this is someones house so who is shocked when the neighbors call the cops?

I am always amazed at people that post things on the internet and then wonder how the cops found out?

You would probably have been screwed either way. ABC has gotten too smart for that dodge-If you charge for cups or you charge for admission or you have a mandatory donation they are probably going to treat it all as sales of alcoholic beverages. If you are charging people for drinks then you need to get an ABC license. They do them for one day events and I believe they cost about $50. Info can be found on the ABC license at http://www.abc.virginia.gov/licensing/banquet.htm

Anger is directed to correct source. ABC acting alone does not usually shut down parties and seize assets.

I can think of about a dozen things the county would require before you host an event like this. Before all that I cant believe they would even consider looking at it when it occurs in a private home.

No offense, all good intentions aside, these guys were just asking for it.

Since most of you know nothing about what really happened...

Event hosts called the police to let them know in advance that the event was happening just like they do every year. This is the 5th year in a row at the same location with the same permit. Plenty of people came in without donating and plenty of people came in and drank their own beer. It was the last year at this location anyway but undercover ABC and police were all over the place and seized everything. No one ever mentioned mandatory donations. Once they took everything it just turned into a backyard party (BYOB). ABC and FFX will lose this in court. Why shut it down this year? Why not the previous 4 years when the event was exactly the same and the cops came every year? If the event was outside of the law, Why did the cops come every year to watch the jello wrestling and then come back after their shift ended? This ABC lady is notorious for big cash grabs like this. Oh and this isn't a charity event. It's a fundraiser for a dear friend that suffered brain damage from a stroke. And it's never been advertised as anything else. It grew so big that organizers felt they had to contribute to the community and donate a portion of the proceeds to childrens hospital. This was an honest effort with positive intentions and ABC and Police were notified of every move. They could have cancelled the permit and PREVENTED the event if they knew it was outside the law. This was a shakedown. They took the money but filed no charges. They made the beer truck leave and took jello shots that people had access to for free. But they didn't stop the party. Great muscle flex by FFX and ABC but nothing more.

Wet-t contest was great, bands were incredible, but the cops were out front with tons of resources and threatened to come in and start arresting people if it wasn't shut down. So, everyone had to be thrown out that wasn't camping. Cabs were called and they started hauling people out. It's amazing that ABC and the police had so many resources assigned to this situation. They had helicopters, paddy wagons, cars, I've heard as many as 30 officers, and ABC had undercover people all through the crowd. This means they planned for at least a week to organize this effort. And all they had to do was cancel the permit and it never would've happened. But there's no profit in that...

So what was their motivation in handling it the way they did?
