Secret Service at Fair Oaks Mall
Posted by: shopper ()

I was at Fair Oaks Mall today and passed by this group of 9 or 10 tall, masculine men in dark suits. All looked very serious and did not speak to one another. They all had ear pieces. I'm assuming they're Secret Service... but why would they be at Fair Oaks? Let me know if you know anything.

It's probably for a diplomat. Secret Service can be made available for foreign diplomats who request it. That's because we don't want foreign security roaming around our Malls outside of their jurisdiction. I think the foreign embassies have to compensate the U.S. government for the protection.

If it was a diplomat it would have been diplomatic security, different agency.

Also if it were a diplomat there would be no more than 4 agents, it was probably training.

It was probably DSS if that's the case.

Maybe they moved over to Fair Oaks for training. Haven't noticed them hanging around Pan Am shopping center lately

Probably the same guys in Suburbans and Crown Vics with Blue and Red lights coming out of the ManTech parking lot a few months back.

No point asking, they will not talk to you about their mission/protectee. Also, it could be private. Blackwater (or whatever they call themselves now) and their copycats protect lots of private people too.

Did any of them have a hook per chance?

Could have there for counterfeit money as well. The secret service does more than just protect VIPs.

There have been SEAL team members undergoing surveillance and protectee training in the metro DC area for a few months now and just about every major agency takes advantage of the proximity to DC and the variety of urban/suburban locations to train their people. You can only do so much at Quantico, "The Farm" or FLETC - you need to get out with real people and in real world situations.

Asked around and found out they are Secret Service that come to Fair Oaks for training purposes. All just a training exercise.. I don't think they woulda been grinning the way they were if it wasn't.

SEALs...at FLETC? Or Quantico? Or doing PROTECTEE TRAINING!?!?!?

SEALs kill people and break stuff. They do not arrest or protect people. That makes no sense at all.

I didn't say that SEALs were at FLETC or Quantico, but I have a close friend and former SF operator who spent 2 weeks this summer working with at least one of the SEAL teams on HRT protection training in the metro DC area.

They use Fair Oaks Mall all the time for training. Not sure which agency it is/was, but I worked there for 3 years, and saw them once a month or so.

OCS Marines maybe? I see them all the time in the Woodbridge area when they're on liberty from Quantico. They all dress alike -- crisply pressed khakis and polos (you can tell they're ironed by hand, not from the cleaners); white T-shirt under the polo; and penny loafers or similar dress-casual shoes. They all order water with their meals, never beer or soda.
