Depends on what you have . If you are selling tranny clothes, or anything with a mexicab flag, hold on to it for about a month. When vince1 gets back, he would be very intrested in buying,

Plato's Closet only accepts teenybopper brands of recent vintage (think Hollister and Aeropostale), and they can be picky about what they take.

Nice thing is that they're a resale shop, which means they pay cash on the spot. I've had bad experiences with consignment shops, which make you wait months before paying you...and then they'll pay only for those items they hadn't allowed to be lost, stolen or damaged in the meantime.

If you have nice clothes and something that can be used to help people looking for jobs etc try Echo in Springfield across from the shopping center with the Trader Joes. They take good clothes and you can take the tax break for it. There are a number of places around that take clothes and use them to support the community. It's not clear what places like Purple Heart or AmVets does with them, so I usually give my new or dress clothes to a local place.

Oh, hey - also, some stores have a forever-return policy, so you can bring some clothes back to them. You could always ask around at the mall. Dunno.

As others have said, I'd donate them all to charity and take the tax write-off - even if it is a few bucks. The time you'll take to wash, organize, price alone isn't worth your time. Plus, you never make as much selling used items (heck, even new with tags) items as you'd think. If you are planning on having a garage sale, forget it - people will bargain you down and/or grab armloads of clothes and dicker down for mere dollars. Then, you're still stuck with unsold clothes and you'll have to donate them. Skip all the other steps and take them to Goodwill, a thrift store or call Lupus/AmVets/Salvation Army and they'll come right to your door and pick them all up for you.
