Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I tried this out when it opened in Burke in the faint hope that maybe I wouldn't have to drive to Buon Appetitos in Chantilly or Tony's NY Pizza @ Fair Lakes to get decent NY pizza.
Of course it's the same crap that all the other places around here try to pass off as NY pizza. Indistinguishable from Big Bite or Voccelli's. Or Dominos for that matter. It's pathetic that the best pizza I can get delivered in Burke is Papa Johns.
I wish the next person who wants to open a pizza place in Burke would go out to Tony's NY Pizza and learn something about pizza (paying particular attention to the fact the place is packed all the time because they having freaking decent NY pizza).
Pizza is okay. They are failing in the delivery business. They had been fine but then...a week ago they took TWO HOURS to deliver and the pizzas were cold. This week they told us it would be 35-45 minutes and after an hour we called. They said we were next on the list to cook and it would be out the door in 25 minutes! We cancelled the order and have tossed the menu. They are dead to us and will probably soon be out of business.
Pizza is okay here. I tried dining-in here with some friends and it took an hour to get our food and they completely lost track of what we had ordered. They kept bringing us stuff we didn't order. They use a computer when they take the orders, so I'm not sure how it becomes so disorganized. I prefer Victors pizza at Old Keene and Rolling. It's the best in the area in my opinion. However, they do not deliver.
Look, for the last fucking time...here's all you have to know about selecting a place to buy a pizza from. If it's a national chain OR the letters "NY" OR the words "New York Style" appear in the name or advertising of your prospective dining establishment, the pizza...will taste...like shit.
Why? Because places that serve authentic NY style pizza know what they're doing and don't need to convince anyone of what they are doing with marketing.
