August 20th is Friday. Is that considered "Mid-Week?"

I usually go mid-week and have gone in August before. My recommendation is to get there when the gates open and hit the rides you want to hit first (especially if it is the Intimidator). Lines tend to come down a bit around lunch time, so you might be able to catch a second wave. Another tip is to go to the back of the park first, to the big roller coasters, and then work your way back to the front of the park.

Tue-Thurs on a day when the weather is less than perfect is the best. I've been there when it was "drizzling" off and on and no one was there. The rides still run unless the rain is heavy or there is lightning. I rode the Anaconda multiple times, they only make you get off if someone else wants your seat.

When my kids were younger I would usually take them on a Tuesday in August every summer. I think we would go on "White Water Canyon" ride like 10 times. We rarely had to wait more then 5-10 minutes. Great times. You could get discount coupons at Giant. Not sure if you can still do that though.

My family is a pro at this King's Dominion thing. Your best bet is a Tues - Thurs and if the weather is going to be drizzly, you'll own that park. If the weather is good or hot, do what WTL said - get there when the gates, d prioritize your ride wishlist and get them out of the way. But your wait times shouldn't be more than 10/15 at the very most, especially for the older rides.

If you plan on hitting the waterpark - get at that gate around 11:40, and when the gates open at 12, get your space under the umbrellas at the wave pool and then hit the Tornado ride (that line takes forever when it's long). The Zoom Flume ride can be long too (15+), but everything else goes quickly.
